Erland Nordenskiöld
Baron Nils Erland Herbert Nordenskiöld (19 July 1877 – 5 July 1932) was a Swedish archeologist and anthropologist. Nordenskiöld's research focused on the ethnography and prehistory of South America. Biography He was born in Stockholm, the son of N. A. E. Nordenskiöld. He was educated at Uppsala, was connected with the Museum of Natural History at Stockholm (1906–08), and became director of the ethnographic division of the Göteborg Museum (1913). He made journeys of discovery in Patagonia (1899), in Argentina and Bolivia (1901–02), in Peru and Bolivia (1904–05), in Bolivia (1908–09), and in 1913 in the interior of South America. From these journeys he brought home large collections to Gothenburg where he was head of the Ethnographical Museum. The Swedish-speaking population of Finland (whose members are called by many names—see below; ; ) is a linguistic minority in Finland. They maintain a strong identity and are seen either as a separate cultural, ethnic or linguistic group or, occasionally, a distinct nationality. Otto Nordenskjöld
Nils Otto Gustaf Nordenskjöld (6 December 1869 – 2 June 1928) was a Swedish geologist, geographer, and polar explorer. Early life Nordenskjöld was born in Hässleby in Småland in eastern Sweden, in a family that included his maternal uncle, the polar explorer Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld, and cousin Gustaf Nordenskiöld. His father and mother were cousins, but his father's family name was "Nordenskjöld", while his mother's family name was spelled "Nordenskiöld". He studied at Uppsala University, obtaining a doctorate in geology in 1894, and later became a lecturer and then associate professor in the university's geology department. Nils Gustaf Nordenskiöld
Nils Gustaf Nordenskiöld (October 12, 1792 – February 2, 1866) was a Finnish mineralogist and traveller. He was the father of Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld, a mineralogist and polar explorer Life Nordenskiöld was born on October 12, 1792, in Mäntsälä in southern Finland, which was then part of the Kingdom of Sweden. After studying mineralogy in Helsingfors, now better known as Helsinki, and in Sweden, Nordenskiöld was appointed an inspector of mines in Finland. Finland had by now been transferred to Russia, as an autonomous Grand Duchy. On October 3, 1819, Nordenskiöld was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Academy had been established pursuant to the order of the Peter I of Russia by the Decree of the Ruling Senate dated January 28 (February 8), 1724. Erik Nordenskiöld (November 23, 1872 – April 28, 1933) was a Finnish-Swedish aristocrat, zoologist and historian of science. He was the nephew of the explorer Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld (1832-1901) and was best known for his work on arachnids and a pioneering work on the history of biology. The Finnish nobility (; ) was historically a privileged Social class, class in Finland, deriving from its period as part of Sweden and the Russian Empire. Major General Claës-Henrik Bengtsson (B:son) Nordenskiöld (28 July 1917 – 11 November 2003) was a Swedish Air Force officer and sailor. He was Chief of the Air Staff from 1966 to 1970 and Acting Chief of the Air Force in 1968. Early life Nordenskiöld was born on 28 July 1917 in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of General Bengt Nordenskiöld and his wife Dagmar Werner. Career Nordenskiöld was commissioned as an officer with the rank of second lieutenant in the Swedish Air Force in 1941.
