Niko Valkeapää
Niko-Mihkal Valkeapää (born 30 December 1968) is a Finnish Sami people, Sami musician, joiker (Sami folk singer), teacher, actor and politician. Biography Born in Enontekiö, Finland, he has been described as "one of Sami music's foremost performers." Sámi Grand Prix
The Sámi Grand Prix, often abbreviated as SGP, is a Sámi yoik and song music competition, competition organized annually by the Sámi Music Festival organization (, ), featuring participants from all corners of Sápmi. While the majority of its participants have been from the Norwegian side of Sápmi, Sámi from the Swedish, Finnish, and Russian sides have been increasingly participating in recent years too. Each participant submits an original piece to be performed live in an auditorium in Kautokeino (village), Kautokeino during the Sámi Easter Festival. Originally broadcast on the radio in a limited area, they have started to be shown on TV and livestreamed as well and can be watched from anywhere in the world. Listeners and viewers can cast their vote for their favorites in two categories. A combined televoting and jury result is calculated for each participant. Márkomeannu
Márkomeannu is a Sami people, Sami cultural and music festival in Norway. The festival is held near the border of Tjeldsund Municipality in Troms county and Evenes Municipality in Nordland county. The idea behind Márkomeannu is to celebrate the culture and traditions of the Sámi peoples, Sámi villages. Until 2006, the festival was organized by the youth association , but starting in 2007, it has been organized by its own association, . In the first two years, the festival was held at the zoo near Evenes Airport, but since 2002 has been held at the Sami open-air museum, east of the village of Vatnjavárri. Márkomeannu consists of concerts, exhibitions, seminars, and theater. The festival had 2,800 attendees in 2008. The festival received the Troms County Council's cultural award in 2017. Riddu Riđđu
Riddu Riđđu () is an annual Sami people, Sámi music and culture festival held in Olmmáivággi (Manndalen) in the Gáivuotna Municipality (also known as Kåfjord Municipality) in Norway. The goal of the festival is to bring forward both Sámi culture and that of other Indigenous peoples, indigenous peoples. Translated to English, the name of the festival is "small storm at the coast". The festival has permanent support from the Ministry of Culture (Norway), Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs, the Sami Parliament of Norway, Sámi parliament, Troms County Municipality, Troms county and Kåfjord municipality. Riddu Riđđu includes concerts, seminars, performances, youth camp, stage art, literature, children's program, Northern People's program, youth camp, film program, courses (workshops), art exhibition, market (bazaar), indigenous houses and much more. Frode Fjellheim (born 27 August 1959 in Mussere) is a Southern Saami yoiker and musician (piano and synthesizer) from Norway. He is best known for his band Transjoik and as the composer of the 2002 song "Eatnemen Vuelie", which was later adapted to become the opening musical number of '' Frozen''. Fjellheim was raised in Gausdal Municipality and Karasjok Municipality, and is South Sámi. Career Fjellheim was educated at the Classical program at Trøndelag Musikkonservatorium (1980–84). He lives in Trondheim, where he is a freelance musician and composer. He has been involved in productions at Trøndelag Teater and Rikskonsertene.
