Ngô Tự Lập
Ngô Tự Lập (born 4 June 1962 in Hanoi) is a Vietnamese writer, poet, essayist, translator and songwriter. Life and work Lap was born in Hanoi in 1962. He earned his first University Degree, in Navigation, in the ex-USSR (1986), and then served in Vietnam Navy as captain of a landing ship. In 1990, he entered the Hanoi Law College, from which he graduated in 1993. After a short time working in the Military Supreme Tribunal, he became a literary editor of the Army Publishing House, then the Hanoi Publishing House, and has worked for several newspapers. In 1996, he earned his master's degree in Literature in École Normale Supérieur de Fontenay/Saint Cloud, Paris (now ENS lettres sciences humaines), and in 2006 a PhD at the Illinois State University. Ngô Thì Nhậm
Ngô Thì Nhậm or Ngô Thời Nhiệm ( vi-hantu, 吳時任, 1746–1803) was an important Vietnamese scholar and official who served several regimes during the turbulent last decades of the eighteenth century. He had served as an official for the Trịnh lords before losing his position as a result of a coup that followed the death of the Trịnh lord Trịnh Sâm in 1782. He retreated from public life, focusing on his scholarship, before being lured back to official service by the Tây Sơn leader, Nguyễn Huệ in the late 1780s. He served the Tay Son regime with enthusiasm during the reign of the Quang Trung Emperor (r. 1788-1792), writing edicts for the Tây Sơn court, and serving as an emissary to the Chinese court. After the unexpected death of the Quang Trung Emperor and the ascent to the throne of an underage son, Ngô Thì Nhậm slowly decreased his service to the court, and turned his attention to an interest in Vietnamese Buddhism. Ngô Thế Linh
Ngô Thế Linh (born 6 December 1928, Hà Tĩnh Province, Vietnam, French Indochina – died 25 February 1999) was a colonel in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), South Vietnam. He was the first Commander of Coastal Security Service (CSS). He was the commander of South Vietnam's Special Forces. Linh graduated from Thủ Đức Military Infantry Officer Academy, Class Number 3 (in 1952) with General Nguyễn Khoa Nam. During the next twenty three years of service, he held key positions in Presidential Liaisons Services, Strategic Technical Directorate of the South Vietnamese Army. Ngô Quyền
Ngô Quyền ( vi-hantu, 吳權) (April 17, 898 – February 14, 944), often referred to as Tiền Ngô Vương (前吳王; "First King of Ngô"), was a warlord who later became the founding king of the Ngô dynasty of Vietnam. He reigned from 939 to 944. In 938, he defeated the Southern Han dynasty at the Battle of Bạch Đằng River north of modern Haiphong. The battle is celebrated in Vietnamese national history as it ended 1,000 years of Chinese rule over Vietnam dating back to 111 BC under the Western Han dynasty.
