Ngô Thế Linh
Ngô Thế Linh (born 6 December 1928, Hà Tĩnh Province, Vietnam, French Indochina – died 25 February 1999) was a colonel in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), South Vietnam. He was the first Commander of Coastal Security Service (CSS). He was the commander of South Vietnam's Special Forces. Linh graduated from Thủ Đức Military Infantry Officer Academy, Class Number 3 (in 1952) with General Nguyễn Khoa Nam. During the next twenty three years of service, he held key positions in Presidential Liaisons Services, Strategic Technical Directorate of the South Vietnamese Army. He was in charge of many important clandestine missions by land, by air and by sea to North Vietnam. John-Baptiste Nguyễn Bửu Đồng
John-Baptiste Nguyễn Phúc Bửu Đồng (1912 – February 4, 1968) was a Vietnamese Catholic priest from the city of Huế. He was murdered by the Việt Cộng during the Huế massacre, which took place during the Tết Offensive of the Vietnam War. Biography Born as a prince of the Nguyễn dynasty, Bửu Đồng was a parish priest in a village to the east of Huế. He was a great-grandson of emperor Minh Mạng, while his father was the minister of interior during the reign of Bảo Đại. During the Vietnam War, as his area was inhabited by many Việt Cộng, he worked to stay on good terms with both them and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. In 1967, he reportedly invited Việt Cộng guerrillas and South Vietnamese soldiers to sit together for Christmas dinner. Phanxicô Xaviê Nguyễn Văn Thuận, also known as Francis-Xavier Nguyễn Văn Thuận (; 17 April 1928 – 16 September 2002), was a Vietnamese cardinal in the Catholic Church. He was a nephew of South Vietnam's first president, Ngô Đình Diệm, and of Archbishop Ngô Đình Thục. Thuận, targeted for his faith as well as his family connections to Ngô Đình Diệm, was detained by the communist government of Vietnam in a re-education camp for 13 years, nine in solitary confinement. Pope Francis named him as Venerable on 4 May 2017, a significant step on the road towards canonization. Hàm Nghi
Emperor Hàm Nghi (, vi-hantu, lit. "entirely right", 3 August 1871 – 14 January 1944), personal name Nguyễn Phúc Ưng Lịch (), also Nguyễn Phúc Minh, was the eighth emperor of the Vietnamese Nguyễn dynasty. He reigned for only one year (1884–85). He was the younger brother of Emperor Kiến Phúc. In 1884, Hàm Nghi was enthroned at the age of 13 by the regents Nguyễn Văn Tường and Tôn Thất Thuyết. After the failed counterattack at the imperial capital Huế in 1885, Tôn Thất Thuyết took him out of the capital where he issued the Cần Vương edict to resist French colonial rule. In Hàm Nghi’s name, Tôn Thất Thuyết launched the Cần Vương movement, calling upon scholars and patriots to assist the Emperor by rising up to fight and save the nation, to regain independence.
