Mülhüpra Vero
Mülhüpra Vero (1934–2020) was an Indian politician and the first Member of Parliament from among the Naga people. He was also the recipient of the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 2006 for his contribution to the social work. Early life In 1934, Mülhüpra was born in Rünguzu village in present-day Phek District. He began his studies at the Middle School in Chozuba, and completed his matriculation from Government High School Kohima in 1956. He completed his BA from St. Edmund's College, Shillong in 1959. Political life Vero was elected a member of the Rajya Sabha for two terms. When the Official Languages (Amendment) Bill was tabled in the Rajya Sabha in December 1967, Vero demanded that English be continued for an indefinite period both at the centre and in states as Nagaland had already adopted English as its official language. Phek District
Phek District (pron:/ˈfɛk/) is a List of districts of Nagaland, district in the Indian state of Nagaland. ''Imphal Free Press'' is an English-language daily published in Manipur, India. Alongside the Sangai Express, it is one of the two most widely read newspapers of Manipur. National Socialist Council Of Nagaland
The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) is a Naga militant and separatist group operating mainly in Northeast India, northeastern part of India, with minor activities in northwest Myanmar. The main aim of the organisation is reportedly to establish the country of Nagalim, a Naga nationalism, sovereign Naga state, which would consist of all the areas inhabited by Naga people, Naga tribes in Northeast India and northwest Myanmar. Despite the name, the group does not endorse the ideology of "Nazism, National Socialism" (often referred to as "Nazism") as practiced by Nazi Germany. The Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) is a civil society organisation formed by women in Nagaland. The organisation has consistently tried to address problems of conflict, peace building and substance abuse by creating a platform for dialogue that brings together disparate voices.
