Mudhoney
Mudhoney is an American rock music, rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, on January 1, 1988, following the demise of Green River (band), Green River. Its members are singer and rhythm guitarist Mark Arm, lead guitarist Steve Turner (guitarist), Steve Turner, bassist Guy Maddison and drummer Dan Peters. Original bassist Matt Lukin left the band in 1999, but rejoined the band in December 2000 for a tour that lasted through January 2001. Mudhoney's early releases on the Sub Pop label, particularly their debut single "Touch Me I'm Sick" and the ''Superfuzz Bigmuff'' EP, were instrumental in the creation of the grunge genre. Although the band found little commercial success and remained somewhat 'underground' and non-mainstream, Mudhoney has released eleven studio albums and inspired countless grunge and alternative rock musicians during their long career. The discography of Mudhoney, a Seattle, Washington-based punk rock, punk/grunge band, consists of eleven studio albums, four compilation albums, five extended plays (EP), one live album, and twenty Single (music), singles. This list does not include material recorded by Mudhoney band members with any other project. Mudhoney was formed in 1988 by vocalist/guitarist Mark Arm and guitarist Steve Turner (guitarist), Steve Turner. Touch Me I'm Sick
"Touch Me I'm Sick" is a song by the American alternative rock band Mudhoney. It was recorded in April 1988 at Seattle's Reciprocal Recording studio with producer Jack Endino. "Touch Me I'm Sick" was released as Mudhoney's debut single by independent record label Sub Pop on August 1, 1988. The song's lyrics, which feature dark humor, are a sarcastic take on issues such as disease and violent sex. When it was first released, "Touch Me I'm Sick" was a hit on college radio. Its heavily distorted and fuzzy guitars, snarling vocals, blunt bass line and energetic drumming contributed to a dirty sound that influenced many local musicians, and helped develop the nascent Seattle grunge scene. Superfuzz Bigmuff
''Superfuzz Bigmuff'' is the debut album and first major release by the Seattle grunge band Mudhoney. It was released in October 1988, through record label Sub Pop. The album was later re-released in 1990 in the form of ''Superfuzz Bigmuff Plus Early Singles''. Background and writing The album was named after two of the band's favorite guitar effects pedals: the Univox Super-Fuzz and the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff, which helped to provide the band's signature "dirty" sound. The cover artwork is a photograph of frontman Mark Arm (left) and guitarist Steve Turner (right) performing live by photographer Charles Peterson. Other artwork on the album includes more photos of the band performing and them posing topless. Guy Bernard Maddison (born 31 March 1965) is an Australian punk music, punk and grunge musician. From 1986 to 1989 he worked as a member of noise rock group Lubricated Goat and appeared on their album ''Paddock of Love''. He was a member of Bloodloss (1993–1997), a blues-punk band, alongside Mark Arm on vocals. Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock Music genre, genre and subculture that emerged during the in the U.S. state of Washington (state), Washington, particularly in Seattle and Music of Olympia, Washington, Olympia, and other nearby cities. Matt Lukin
Matthew David Lukin (born August 16, 1964) is an American former musician, best known as a bassist and founding member of the Melvins and Mudhoney. Career Melvins (1983–1987) Lukin co-founded the Melvins in 1983 with guitarist/vocalist Buzz Osborne and drummer Mike Dillard in Montesano, Washington, where the trio had attended high school together. Beginning as a Jimi Hendrix cover band and then as a hardcore punk band, they changed their sound when Dillard left and a new drummer, Dale Crover joined the band, playing slower and heavier rock music. Soon they were one of the most important bands in the early Seattle-area grunge scene. When Crover joined the band, the Melvins also relocated to Aberdeen, Washington. Mark Arm (born Mark Thomas McLaughlin; February 21, 1962) is an American singer and songwriter, best known as the vocalist for the grunge band Mudhoney. His former group, Green River, was one of the first grunge bands, along with Malfunkshun, Soundgarden, Skin Yard, the U-Men, and others. He is also the manager of the Sub Pop warehouse and previously worked at Fantagraphics Books. Early life Arm was born February 21, 1962, at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, and was raised in Kirkland, Washington. . As a child, he was a member of Boy Scouts of America. Dan Peters
Daniel Joe Peters (born August 18, 1967) is the drummer for Mudhoney, having played with them since their formation in 1988. Prior to Mudhoney, he joined Bundle of Hiss when he was fifteen years old. He was also briefly the drummer for Nirvana in the summer of 1990, playing on one single, " Sliver", and making one live appearance with them that September in Seattle, shortly before drummer Dave Grohl joined. Peters has expressed his only regret as missing the chance to play drums on Nirvana's album ''Nevermind''. Mudhoney's latest offering is '' Plastic Eternity'' released on April 7, 2023. Peters also played drums for the Ellensburg, Washington based band Screaming Trees from 1990 to 1991, and appeared in the movie ''Black Sheep'' alongside David Spade and Chris Farley. Steve Turner (guitarist)
Steven Neil Turner (born March 28, 1965) is an American guitarist known for his work with Green River and Mudhoney. Early life Turner was born in 1965 in Houston, Texas, but moved with his family to Seattle when he was two. Career His first band was called The Ducky Boys. The lineup included future Pearl Jam member Stone Gossard. The Ducky Boys split around 1983. Turner later joined Mark Arm in Mr. Epp and the Calculations, which Arm described as "The worst band in the world". Mr. Epp played their final show with Turner in 1984. Green River was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. Considered one of the first grunge bands, Green River is best known for being the precursor to multiple key early 1990s rock bands, most notably Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog, and Love Battery. Spluii Numa
Spluii Numa was a hardcore punk band from Federal Way, Washington formed in 1982. Its members consisted of Erik Aasen (vocals), Charles Quain (guitar), Keith Strobel (bass), briefly Harold Hollingsworth (vocals), and Alex Shumway. Mudhoney's Steve Turner was also a guitarist for the band for a short amount of time before leaving the band to join Mr. Epp and the Calculations. Quain was also a member of the band Limp Richerds that also had at times consisted of Mudhoney's Mark Arm and Steve Turner. Shumway had also played one show with Limp Richerds, playing a Band Aid container. The origin of the name "Spluii Numa" comes from graffiti written on a locker at Shumway's highschool.
