Lamb Range is a locality in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Lamb Range had "no people or a very low population". Geography The locality takes its name from the mountain range Lamb Range. The locality that lies to the west of most of the southern suburbs of Cairns. It is undeveloped mountainous land rising from the coastal plains (elevation of less than 50 metres above sea level) up through the Great Dividing Range (with elevations up to 1200 metres) towards the Atherton Tableland. The land use is entirely committed to national parks and reserves. Dinden National Park and Lake Morris Reserve are in the north of the locality with Little Mulgrave National Park in the south. Woree State High School (WSHS) is a public co-educational secondary school located in the Cairns suburb of Woree, Queensland, Australia. It is administered by the Queensland Department of Education, with an enrolment of 822 students and a teaching staff of 74, as of 2023. The school serves students from Year 7 to Year 12. Bentley Park College is a co-educational, state run school located in Bentley Park (Queensland, Australia). The school is within Cairns Regional Council's jurisdiction. Historical Development The road the school is located on was built in 1885 and was named after the McLaughlin family, farmers of the area. In 1997 (term 4), the school opened as a primary school in Centenary Park called "Edmonton State School", after a nearby town. Yidiny People
The Yidiny (also spelt Yidindj, Yidinji or Yidiñ), are an Aboriginal Australian people in Far North Queensland. Their language is the Yidiny language. Language The last fluent speakers of Yidiny were Tilly Fuller (d. October 1974), George Davis (b.1919), Dick Moses (b.1898) and his sister Ida Burnett of White Rock. A substantial part of the language has been analysed and recorded by Robert M. W. Dixon. Country The Yidiny lands were in lowland rainforest areas, stretching from Barron River near Cairns down to the south, where their borders met those of the Ngajanji and the Mamu. Bruce Highway
The Bruce Highway is a major highway in Queensland, Australia. Commencing in the state capital, Brisbane, it passes through areas close to the eastern coast on its way to Cairns in Far North Queensland.
