Mitlödi Railway Station
Mitlödi railway station () is a railway station in the municipality of Glarus Süd in the Swiss canton of Glarus. It is an intermediate stop on the Weesen to Linthal railway line, and serves the village of Mitlödi. The station is served by Zürich S-Bahn service S25 between Zurich and Linthal, and by St. Gallen S-Bahn service S6 between Rapperswil and Schwanden. Both services operate once per hour, combining to provide two trains per hour between Ziegelbrücke and Schwanden. Zürich S-Bahn
The Zurich S-Bahn () system is a network of rail lines that has been incrementally expanded to cover the ZVV area, which comprises the entire canton of Zurich and portions of neighbouring cantons (Aargau, Glarus, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, St. Gallen, Thurgau and Zug), with a few lines extending into or crossing the territory of southern Germany. Ziegelbrücke
Ziegelbrücke is a village situated on both sides of the Linth Channel in Switzerland. Ziegelbrücke is shared by the Municipalities of Switzerland, municipalities of Niederurnen in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Glarus (canton), Glarus and Schänis in the canton of St. Gallen, with the Linth forming the boundary between these municipalities. Name The name refers to a bridge () covered by a roof with tiles (). The presence of such a bridge was first documented in 1532. This bridge was located approximately where the current bridge over the Linth Channel is nowadays. Schwanden is a village, and former municipality, in the municipality of Glarus Süd and canton of Glarus in Switzerland. History Schwanden is first mentioned in 1240 as ''de swando''. In 1879, Schwanden was connected to the Swiss railway network by the opening of the Swiss Northeastern Railway line from Weesen. Between 1905 and 1969, the Sernftal tramway connected Schwanden with communities in the valley of the Sernf river as far as Elm. On 1 January 2011, Schwanden became part of the municipality of Glarus Süd. Geography Schwanden is situated at an elevation of at the point of confluence of the Linth and Sernf rivers. Linthal, Glarus
Linthal is a village and former municipality in the municipality of Glarus Süd and canton of Glarus in Switzerland. The village lies near the head of the valley of the Linth river, and at the foot of the Klausen Pass into the canton of Uri. It is the terminus of the railway line that traverses the length of Glarus. History Linthal is first mentioned in 1289 as ''Lintal''. In 1879, Linthal was connected to the Swiss railway network by the opening of the Swiss Northeastern Railway line from Weesen. The road over the Klausen Pass was built between 1895 and 1900. The S25 is a regional railway line of the S-Bahn Zürich on the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), Zürich transportation network, and is one of the network's lines connecting the cantons of Zürich with Schwyz, Glarus and St. Gallen. The line was introduced in July 2014, and replaces the less frequent Glarner Sprinter train. At , trains of the S25 service usually depart from ground-level tracks () 3–18. History Between 1918 and 2004, there was no direct connection from the canton of Glarus to the city of Zürich. In 2004, the through Glarner Sprinter train was introduced, but financial and technical limitations meant this train only ran every two hours on weekdays, and twice a day on weekends and holidays.
