Michael Fitzgerald (hurler)
Michael FitzGerald (born 1987) is an Irish hurling coach and former player. At club level, he played with Doon and at inter-county level with the Limerick senior hurling team. Career FitzGerald played hurling at all levels as a student at Doon CBS, before eventually joining the school's senior team in the Dr Harty Cup competition. He later played with Mary Immaculate College and was part of their Ryan Cup-winning team in 2006. At club level, FitzGerald first played for Doon at juvenile and underage levels. He won a Limerick MAHC title in 2003, before later winning a Limerick U21AHC medal after Doon's 2-16 to 1-06 win over Adare in 2006. FitzGerald was still eligible for the minor grade when he made his senior team debut. FitzGerald first appeared on the inter-county scene with Limerick as goalkeeper on the mnor team in 2003. GAA/GPA Young Hurler Of The Year
The Gaelic Athletic Association/Gaelic Players Association Young Hurler of the Year (known for sponsorship reasons as the PwC GAA/GPA Young Hurler of the Year, or simply the Young Hurler of the Year) is an annual award given to the player aged 21 or under at the start of the season who is adjudged to have been the best during the All-Ireland Championship. The award has been presented since the 1996 All-Ireland Championship and the winner is chosen by a vote amongst the members of the players' trade union, the Gaelic Players Association (GPA). The 2007 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final was a hurling match held at Croke Park, Dublin on 2 September 2007. The match was the 120th All-Ireland hurling final and was contested by Kilkenny and Limerick, with Kilkenny winning 2–19 to 1–15. It was the first meeting of these two sides in the All-Ireland final since 1974 when Kilkenny were the winners. Kilkenny were aiming to capture a second All-Ireland title in succession while Limerick were hoping to capture a first title since 1973. The prize for the winning team was the Liam MacCarthy Cup. The Waterford Crystal Cup was an annual hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association from 2006 to 2015 for the top inter-county teams and third-level institutes and universities in the province of Munster in Ireland.
