Michael Brake
Michael Brake (born 22 October 1994) is a New Zealand rower. He is a dual Olympian and won Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020. Brake has been rowing internationally since 2012 and in that year, won a world championship at the World Rowing Junior Championships. At the 2014 World Rowing U23 Championships, he won silver. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, he competed with the New Zealand eight and competed in the same boat class at 2020 Tokyo. In the interim Olympiad, he competed internationally in the coxless pair and won silver at the 2019 World Rowing Championships partnered with Tom Murray. Domestically, he has won seven national premier rowing titles. Brake, who is from Auckland's North Shore, graduated with a civil engineering degree from Auckland University. Rowing New Zealand is the sports governing body for rowing in New Zealand. Its purpose is to provide leadership and support to enable an environment of success for the New Zealand rowing community. This includes secondary schools, clubs, masters, universities and high performance. Rowing New Zealand was founded as the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association on 16 March 1887. Rowing At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Eight
The men's eight competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place at the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. It was held from 8 to 13 August. There were 7 boats (63 competitors) from 7 nations. The event was won by Great Britain, the nation's first victory in the men's eight since 2000 and fourth overall (second to the United States' 12 wins). Description and location The lake and its surrounding area is used for local recreation. All of the lake frontage is a protected area. The lake formed through glacial processes and it is thought that the river Reuss (river), Reuss flowed through this valley in between ice ages. There is no notable inflow and virtually no current. Sam Bosworth (born 5 April 1994) is a New Zealand coxswain (rowing), coxswain. He is an Olympic champion and was the first male coxswain to win an international elite rowing event in a female crew. Personal life Bosworth was born on 5 April 1994 and is from Waipara in North Canterbury, New Zealand, Canterbury.
