Conrad Ewart Lambert, better known as "Merz" is an English multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He has released seven albums. Biography Born Conrad Lambert in Dorset, England, he grew up in West Bretton & Huddersfield, Yorkshire and moved to London in 1992. Merz had three minor hits in 1999/2000 in the UK Singles Chart with ''Many Weathers Apart'', ''Lovely Daughter and Lotus''. 25 October 1999 his eponymous debut album was released on Epic Records. The album combined elements of 90s electronica with strains of pastoral folk and drew wide critical acclaim. However, the commercial success which had been predicted by many in the music industry and press failed to materialise, and Merz withdrew from his recording contract with Epic's parent company, Sony BMG, in 2001. His second album, ''Loveheart'', surfaced five years later on the independent Grönland label. Merz (art Style)
Merz (art style) is a synonym for the more common expression and term Dada, and traces back to Kurt Schwitters. Origin Merz was conceptualized by Kurt Schwitters, who planned a Dada section in Hanover. However, upon being denied an invitation to the First International Dada Fair in Berlin in 1920, Schwitters wished to establish a subsect of the Dada movement that was tailored to his own artistic philosophies and visions. In his own words, he wished to find a "''totally unique hat fitting only a single head"— his own''. Etymology The name ''Merz'' was generated by chance through a collage that incorporated the German word ''Kommerz'' (commerce). The resulting word, which was nonsensical and spontaneously generated, was similar in origin and philosophy to the title of Dada. ''Merz'' became Schwitters's synonym for his own approach to Dada. Joachim-Friedrich Martin Josef Merz (; ; born 11November 1955) is a German politician serving as Chancellor of Germany since 6 May 2025. He has also served as Leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since January 2022, leading the CDU/CSU (Union) parliamentary group as Leader of the Opposition (Germany), Leader of the Opposition in the Bundestag from February 2022 to May 2025. The Merz Peninsula () is an irregular, ice-covered peninsula, about long in an east–west direction and averaging wide, between Hilton Inlet and Violante Inlet on the east coast of Palmer Land, Antarctica. Location The Merz Peninsula is on the Black Coast of Palmer Land, beside the Weddell Sea to the east. It is south of Hilton Inlet and north of Violante Inlet. The Wilson Mountains and Hjort Massif are to the northwest. The Spiess Glacier runs north from the west side of the peninsula into Hilton Inlet.
