Mees Röttgering
Mees Röttgering (born 7 July 2007) is a Dutch tennis player. He has a career-high ranking of world No. 648 achieved on 16 June 2025. He is the current No. 1 Junior singles player. Early life Röttgering was born in Wanssum in the Venray region of the Dutch province of Limburg. He began training in tennis when he was six years-old. He later attended a LOOT school specially set up for young athletes in collaboration with Sint-Joriscollege in Eindhoven. Since 2014, Röttgering coach was Jochem Mol in Veldhoven. Ten years later he also started working with former professional Sjeng Schalken. Career 2023-2024: Juniors In 2023 he reached the semifinals of the senior Dutch Championships as a 16 year-old, where he was defeated by Gijs Brouwer. Wanssum
Wanssum is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Venray. History The village was first mentioned in 1242 as Wanzem, and means "settlement of Wando or Wanso (person)". Wanssum developed at the confluence of the Grote Molenbeek with the maas. In 1485, it became an independent parish. In 1648, it became part of Spanish Guelders. In 1713, it was part of Prussia, and in 1815, it became part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The St Michaels Church is a three aisled church built between 1950 and 1951 to replace the church which was destroyed in 1944. Wanssum was home to 460 people in 1840. Most of the village was destroyed by war in 1944, and later rebuilt. Wanssum was a separate municipality until 1969, when it merged with Meerlo. ITF Junior Masters
The ITF Junior Masters is a year-end singles tournament for the top-ranked 18-and-under tennis players on the ITF Junior Circuit (ITF Junior World Ranking). It is the second most prestigious annual junior event in terms of rankings points awarded, after the four junior grand slams. Each year, eight boys and eight girls participate in separate events. The tournament is designed to emulate the ATP Finals and WTA Finals. Each event features two round-robin groups vying for spots in the knockout rounds that determine the champion.
