Mathew Thompson
Mathew Thompson (born 25 February 1982) is an Australian rugby league and swimming commentator for the Nine Network. Thompson is the number 1 caller for the Nine Network. He was previously calling QLD cup games alongside Penrith Panthers grand final winner Scott Sattler and Brisbane based broadcaster Peter Psaltis. He regularly commentates NRL matches. Career Prior to Nine, Thompson was best known as a commentator and host for Fox Sports, a journalist and broadcaster with Sydney radio stations 2GB and 2UE and presenter and producer with Sky News Australia. In 2022, Thompson succeeded Ray Warren as the Nine Network's chief rugby league and swimming caller. Thompson called his first NRL Grand Final in 2022 as well as his first State of Origin series, and also regularly calls swimming events for the Nine Network, including at the 2024 Summer Olympics. 2022 NRL Grand Final
The 2022 NRL Grand Final was the conclusive and premiership-deciding game of the 2022 National Rugby League season in Australia. It was contested between the Penrith Panthers and the Parramatta Eels on Sunday the 2nd of October at Accor Stadium in Sydney. Penrith, who were both the defending premiers and minor premiers, won the match 28–12 to claim their fourth premiership title, and their first back-to-back premierships in the club's 56-year history. Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal for being judged as the man of the match. The match was preceded by the 2022 NRL State Championship and the 2022 NRL Women's Grand Final. Ray Warren
Raymond Warren (born 11 June 1943) is an Australian retired sports commentator, known for his coverage of televised professional rugby league matches on the Nine Network. He is known as the "Voice of Rugby League", and called 99 State of Origin games as well as 45 NRL Grand Finals. Warren also used to call Australian swimming team events and the FINA World Championships until Nine lost the rights to these events in 2008 and in 2012 participated in Nine's coverage of the London Olympics. Career Born in Junee, New South Wales on 11 June 1943 of English descent, Warren initially followed in the footsteps of his brother by joining the police force.
