Mario López (footballer)
Mario Ernesto López Quintana (born 6 July 1995) is a Paraguayan footballer who plays for Guaraní. Club career After starting playing for hometown teams ( Cerro Corá and Valois Rivarola) he joined Cerro Porteño football academy in 2008. After spending three years at Asunción-based side, López moved to Argentina for play at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata youth set-up. In the winter of 2014, López joined Primera División de Chile side Santiago Wanderers and made his professional debut against San Marcos de Arica coming on as a substitute after replacing Jorge Luna. His first competitive goal came on 21 March 2015 in a 3–3 away draw with the same San Marcos de Arica, now at the Estadio Carlos Dittborn. On 10 January 2020, López signed with Argentine club Aldosivi. Personal life López naturalized Chilean by residence. Santiago Wanderers
Club de Deportes Santiago Wanderers is a football club based in Valparaíso, a founding member of the Chilean Football Federation. Their home ground, Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander, is in the north-west of the city. Wanderers have played their games there since 1931 after moving from Barrio Puerto. Founded on 15 August 1892, it is the country's oldest club and the oldest football team in Chile and the entirity of the Americas. For this reason, Wanderers is known in Chile as the ''Decano del fútbol chileno'' ("The dean of Chilean football") and forms part of CONMEBOL's ''Club de los 100'', section which congregates Latin-American teams founded over 100 years ago. 2017 Copa Chile
The 2017 Copa Chile, (officially known as Copa Chile MTS 2017 because of its sponsorship), was the 38th edition of the Copa Chile, the country's national cup tournament. The competition started on 9 July 2017 with the first round and ended on 11 November 2017. Santiago Wanderers were the winners, beating Universidad de Chile 3–1 in the final to win their third title and first since 1961, and qualified for the 2018 Copa Libertadores. Format The 2017 Copa Chile is based on a system of direct elimination with double-legged ties, similar to the Copa del Rey. All participating teams start the competition in the first round, with the 16 Primera B teams being drawn against the 16 Primera División teams. The Copa Chile (''Chile Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Chilean football teams. Due to time constraints and club pressure, the trophy was cancelled in 2000, but returned in 2008. Its precursor was the Campeonato de Apertura (''Opening Championship''), played from 1933 to 1950. The cup is now open to every member club of the Chilean football league system, from professional teams; ( Primera División, Primera B & Segunda División), down to teams from the ANFA: Tercera División. Since the season 2009, the winners obtained a direct Copa Sudamericana spot for the next season, however this was change starting from the 2015 edition; since then the winners obtains a direct Copa Libertadores spot for the next season. The 2019 Primera B de Chile (known as Campeonato As.com 2019 for sponsoring purposes) was the 66th season of Chile's second-tier football league. The competition began on 15 February 2019 and was scheduled to end in December 2019. Due to the 2019 Chilean protests, the competition was suspended since mid-October with three matches as well as the promotion play-offs still left. After a failed attempt to resume normal activity, on 29 November 2019, ANFP's Council of Presidents voted to conclude the season. Originally it was decided that no teams would be either promoted or relegated this season, however, on 6 December 2019 ANFP decided to declare Santiago Wanderers, who were leading the competition at the time of the suspension, as champions and promoted to the Primera División, as well as allowing another team to be promoted through a play-off.
