Copa Chile
The Copa Chile (''Chile Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Chilean football teams. Due to time constraints and club pressure, the trophy was cancelled in 2000, but returned in 2008. Its precursor was the Campeonato de Apertura (''Opening Championship''), played from 1933 to 1950. The cup is now open to every member club of the Chilean football league system, from professional teams; ( Primera División, Primera B & Segunda División), down to teams from the ANFA: Tercera División. Since the season 2009, the winners obtained a direct Copa Sudamericana spot for the next season, however this was change starting from the 2015 edition; since then the winners obtains a direct Copa Libertadores spot for the next season. In the history of the tournament, the Primera División teams have dominated the competition; but, because this is contested in a knockout tournament format, the opportunity for lower-level teams upsetting a top level squad is a real possibility. 2025 Copa Chile
The 2025 Copa Chile, officially known as Copa Chile Coca-Cola Sin Azúcar 2025 for sponsorship purposes, is the 45th edition of the Copa Chile, the country's national football cup tournament. The tournament began on 26 January 2025. Universidad de Chile were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Curicó Unido in the round of 16. Format For this edition, the Copa Chile had a change in its format, being played only by the 16 Primera División and 16 Primera B teams, leaving out teams from Segunda División Profesional and amateur sides, and the competition featured a group stage for the first time since 2015 instead of the regional and national stages played in the two previous editions. The 2010 Copa Chile Bicentenario was the 31st edition of the competition. The competition started on March 27, 2010 with the preliminary rounds and concludes on December 8, 2010 with the Final. The winner qualifies for the 2011 Copa Sudamericana. Schedule First round The first leg was played between May 13 and 19 May 2010, with the second legs played between May 20 and 23. 1958 Copa Chile
The 1958 Copa Chile was the first edition of the Chilean Cup tournament. The competition started on November 5, 1958, and concluded on December 20, 1958. Colo-Colo won the competition by goal average over the entire tournament, after drawing with Universidad Católica on the final. San Miguel, Chile
San Miguel (Spanish for "Saint Michael") is a commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. It was founded on August 10, 1896. History The history of San Miguel dates back to the 16th century when Gaspar Banda, assistant to the conquistador Diego de Almagro, created a hermitage to Saint Michael the Archangel in this territory in 1575. In 1881, the Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel was built on the same site as the 1575 hermitage. At the beginning of the 19th century, the place emerged as an agricultural area, with wheat, barley and wine plantations. The land was owned by Bernardo O'Higgins, liberator and father of the Chilean nation, who used it as his vacation home. Ramón Subercaseaux brought wine strains directly from Bordeaux, France, and his wines acquired international prestige, notably at the Exposition Universelle of 1889 in Paris. Lapis Lazuli
Lapis lazuli (; ), or lapis for short, is a deep-blue metamorphic rock used as a semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color. Originating from the Persian word for the gem, ''lāžward'', lapis lazuli is a rock composed primarily of the minerals lazurite, pyrite and calcite. Onyx
Onyx is a typically black-and-white banded variety of agate, a silicate mineral. The bands can also be monochromatic with alternating light and dark bands. Agate ( ) is a banded variety of chalcedony. Agate stones are characterized by alternating bands of different colored chalcedony and sometimes include macroscopic quartz.
