Marilú (doll)
Marilú was an Argentine composition doll produced between 1932 and 1960, considered the most prominent and enduring doll in the country, and an icon in the history of national toys. It was created by Alicia Larguía, who was inspired by the French predecessor of Bleuette, a doll available through the famous magazine for girls ''La Semaine de Suzette''. Seeking to replicate this model, Larguía launched Marilú in association with Editorial Atlántida, which was responsible for publishing advertisements and clothing Pattern (sewing), patterns for the doll in its children's magazine ''Billiken (magazine), Billiken'', the most widely distributed in Latin America at the time. In view of the doll's immediate success, Atlántida also published a weekly magazine for girls, ''Marilú'', between 1933 and 1936. Marilú (singer)
Marina Herrera Aragón (18 July 1927 – 16 February 2023), known as Marilú or "La Muñequita que Canta" (The Little Doll that Sings), was a Mexican singer and actress. She began her career in 1939. At the time of her death she was one of the last stars from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Background Marilú was born in Cárdenas, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. After her father's death, the family moved to Tampico, Tamaulipas, where Marilú won a singing contest and joined the troupe of a comedian named Don Catarino. In November 1940 she joined Paco Miller's troupe, which later toured Mexican states. In Mexico City, Marilú became an XEW radio performer and appeared in her first film, '' La liga de las canciones'' (1941). She also sang at the Teatro Lírico and the Teatro Follies. Marilu Rañosa Madrunio is an applied linguist. Her works have been published in various international publications on World Englishes, Philippine English, English sociolinguistics, English language education and Forensic Linguistics. She is a professor at the University of Santo Tomas. As the pioneer of forensic linguistics in the Philippines, Dean Madrunio of English was elected into the International Association of Forensic Linguistics as an Ordinary Member in the executive committee in 2019. Marilu Padua (full name María de la Luz Padua), is a Mexican human rights activist and the Secretary General and Secretary for Gender and Human Rights of the National Union of Domestic Workers, an organization which aims to defend the rights of domestic workers in Mexico. Padua is responsible for the placement program at the union. She led the "Voices of defenders" campaign, which created press releases and other media to pressure governments to address the COVID-19 pandemic with human rights in mind. Maria Ludovica (Marilù) Parolini (1931–2012) was an Italian photographer and screenwriter. Parolini moved to Paris in 1957 and worked as a secretary at '' Cahiers du cinéma'' from 1960 to 1962. Marilú Rojas Salazar is a Mexican researcher and Catholic theologian, noted for her feminist activism, research in gender studies and position in favor of reforming the Catholic Church to recognize "the right to citizenship" of women in the church, including leadership positions and ordinations. She is a missionary nun of Santa Teresa de Lisieux and holds both a masters and a PhD in systematic theology from the Catholic University of Leuven.
