Marian Spychała
Marian Spychała (3 April 1932 – 26 February 2015) was a motorcycle speedway rider and manager from Poland. He managed the Poland national speedway team. Career Spychała started his speedway career with Kolejarz Rawicz during the 1949 Polish speedway season. He remained with the club for eight years, in which time he won a silver (1955) and bronze medal (1954) with the team in the Team Speedway Polish Championship. After spells with Sparta Wrocław and Unia Tarnów he joined Stal Rzeszów for the 1961 Polish speedway season. He rode with the team for ten years until 1970 and won several team medals, including the gold medal for the league championship in 1961. Opole
Opole (; ; ; ) is a city located in southern Poland on the Oder River and the historical capital of Upper Silesia. Kolejarz Rawicz
Kolejarz Rawicz (Railwayman Rawicz) is a motorcycle speedway team based in Rawicz, Poland. They currently race in the Polish Speedway Second League (2. Liga). History The club competed in the inaugural 1948 Polish speedway season, under the name of Motoklub Rawicz. The club's first team honour was winning the bronze medal in the Team Speedway Polish Championship in 1954 and the following season they went one better after winning the silver medal in 1955. Their leading rider Florian Kapała won the Polish Individual Speedway Championship in 1953 and 1956. The club was disbanded after the 1959 season and was not reformed until 1996. The club later won the Polish Speedway Second League three times in 2000, 2007 and 2012. In 2008, the club renamed their stadium to the Florian Kapała Stadium, named after a former rider Florian Kapała. The stadium has a capacity of 7,000 and the speedway track is 330 metres long. Unia Tarnów is a Polish motorcycle speedway club from Tarnów in Poland. The team compete in the Polish Speedway Second League (2. Liga). and have won the Team Speedway Polish Championship three times. History 1957 to 1989 The club was founded 1957 as a section of a multi-sports club of the same name, which was founded in 1928. It would not be until 2001 that the club became a separate entity but retained the same historic name. The first honour was winning the second division in 1963. Stal Rzeszów is a Polish motorcycle speedway club. The team currently competes in the Polish Speedway Second League (2. Liga) and have won the Team Speedway Polish Championship twice. History 1948 to 1959 The first speedway in Rzeszów was held at the Resovia stadium in 1948. The club made their league debut during the 1949 Polish speedway season under the name RTKM-Gwardia Rzeszów. The Team Speedway Polish Championship ( Polish: ''Drużynowe Mistrzostwa Polski, DMP'') is an annual speedway event held each year in different Polish clubs organized by the Polish Motor Union (PZM) since 1948. In 2000, the First Division was renamed Ekstraliga, and the number of teams was reduced. The team winning the league is awarded a gold medal and declared Polish Team Champions. Teams finishing second and third are awarded silver and bronze medals respectively. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Poland National Speedway Team
The Poland national speedway team is the national motorcycle speedway team of Poland and is controlled by the Polish Motor Union ( PZM). They are one of the most successful speedway nations of all time. History The Polish speedway team participated in the inaugural Speedway World Team Cup, being seeded through to the final of the 1960 Speedway World Team Cup. The team were a major force in the opening decade of the tournament, winning the World Team Cup in 1961, 1965, 1966 and 1969, with only the Swedish team winning more World Cups. In the 1970s, the team continued to be one of the major forces in Eastern Europe and qualified for the World Team Cup final every year from 1970 to 1979.
