Unia Tarnów (motorcycle Speedway)
Unia Tarnów is a Polish motorcycle speedway club from Tarnów in Poland. The team compete in the Polish Speedway Second League (2. Liga). and have won the Team Speedway Polish Championship three times. History 1957 to 1989 The club was founded 1957 as a section of a multi-sports club of the same name, which was founded in 1928. It would not be until 2001 that the club became a separate entity but retained the same historic name. The first honour was winning the second division in 1963. Zygmunt Pytko later became the Polish champion in 1967. The team spent most of the 1970s and 1980s either battling relegation in the first division or challenging promotion in the second division but in general there was little in the way of success. 1990 to 1999 The club gained promotion in 1990 and made a statement of intent in 1994 by signing one of the world's leading riders Tony Rickardsson. Tomasz Gollob
Tomasz Robert Gollob (; born 11 April 1971 in Bydgoszcz, Poland) is a former Polish motorcycle speedway rider. He appeared in every Speedway Grand Prix series between its inaugural season in 1995 and 2013. He earned 52 caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career summary Tomasz Gollob spent almost all of his career with hometown club Bydgoszcz until he moved to Unia Tarnów in 2004. He has won the Polish Individual Championship eight times (between 1992 and 2009) and the Polish Pairs Championship ten times. He has also won the Polish Grand Prix eight times in thirteen years. He clinched the Speedway World Championship in 2010 after securing the championship in Terenzano, Italy. He is only the second Pole to ever win the World Championship, following in the footsteps of Jerzy Szczakiel who won in 1973. Janusz Kołodziej (speedway Rider)
Janusz Kołodziej (born 27 May 1984 in Tarnów, Poland) is a Polish speedway rider who has ridden for the Polish national team and is a four times champion of Poland. Career Kołodziej rode in Britain for the Reading Racers in 2003 and from 2006 to 2007. In July 2018, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 2019 Speedway Grand Prix. In 2019, he won his fourth Polish title, he had previously been the Polish champion in 2005, 2010 and 2013. In 2022, he was a member of the Polish team that won the inaugural European Team Speedway Championship. Jan Tony Sören Rickardsson (born on 17 August 1970) is a Swedish former professional motorcycle speedway rider. He competed in the Speedway World Championships from 1989 to 2006 and won six Speedway World Championship titles in 15 attempts. He earned 43 caps for the Sweden national speedway team.
