The Macit Özcan Sports Complex () is a multi-sport complex located at YeniÅŸehir district in Mersin, Turkey. It is named after Macit Özcan, the mayor of Greater Mersin. İsmet İnönü Boulevard () is a major avenue in Mersin, Turkey. It is named after İsmet İnönü (1884-1973), the second president of Turkish Republic between 1938 and 1950. Geography The eastern end of the boulevard is to the north of the Mersin Harbor, where it meets the state highway at about . YeniÅŸehir () is a municipality and district of Mersin Province, Turkey. Its area is 139 km2, and its population is 278,961 (2022). It covers the west-central part of the city of Mersin and the adjacent countryside. Macit Özcan, (born 1954 in KarataÅŸ, Adana Province, Turkey) is a Turkish politician of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and a former mayor of Mersin. After his secondary education in Adana, he graduated in civil engineering from Çukurova University. He went on to work as a civil engineer in the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. He has lived in Mersin since 1980. He was elected Mayor of Mersin in 1999. He successfully stood for a third term in the March 2009 election. The Efrenk River (also called Suntras or Arslanlöy River in the upper reaches and Müftü River in the lower reaches) is a short river in Mersin Province, Turkey. It was originally called the Efrenk River. After a mosque named Müftü Mosque was built by the river in Mersin, it was popularly renamed the Müftü River. The 2013 Mediterranean Games (), officially known as the XVII Mediterranean Games () and commonly known as Mersin 2013, was an international multi-sport event held from 20 to 30 June 2013 in Mersin, Turkey. Mersin was announced as the host city at the General Assembly of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (CIJM) on 23 February 2011.
