M602 Motorway
The M602 motorway is a motorway, leading traffic into Salford, Greater Manchester, England, towards Manchester city centre and by-passing the town of Eccles. History The first section from Worsley to Eccles (now Junction 2) opened in 1971, and the second section from Eccles to Ordsall was completed in 1982. The motorway itself was originally intended to be a part of a bigger scheme, the South Lancashire Motorway. To be designated M52, the route would have linked Liverpool and Manchester, and would have been built to provide links to the growing UK motorway network. However, at the same time, the M62 was being extended north and east of Worsley, around the north of Manchester, and on to Yorkshire, to form part of the Trans-Pennine Motorway route. This would be an upgraded version of the original plan of the East Lancashire Road, the A580, but would link onto the existing route at Worsley. It was decided that the Trans-Pennine Motorway be extended to Liverpool too, to provi ...

M621 Motorway
The M621 is a loop of motorway in West Yorkshire, England that takes traffic into central Leeds between the M1 motorway, M1 and M62 motorway, M62 motorways. History The first section of the M621 to open, known at the time as the 'South West Urban Motorway', extended from the M62 to junction 3 in central Leeds where it used to terminate at a roundabout which was also the terminus of the M1 motorway. This section opened in stages, first from the M62 to junction 1 in 1971 (this was originally numbered M65), and then next from junction 1 to junction 3 in 1973. When the M1 motorway, M1 was diverted away from Leeds when the 'M1 – A1 Lofthouse to Bramham' extension opened in 1999 adjustments were made to junction 3 and the Leeds section of the M1 was re-designated as M621, given junction 3 to junction 7). M606 Motorway
The M606 is a stretch of motorway in West Yorkshire, England. Called the Bradford Spur motorway, the M606 leaves the M62 motorway at junction 26, near Cleckheaton, and heads into Bradford, to join the A6177 road, A6177 Bradford Ring Road. It is officially named the "Bradford South Radial Motorway" and was opened in 1973. Route The northern end of the M606, closest to the city, was built with a large raised roundabout crossing the Bradford Ring Road, but the original plans to continue the motorway under the roundabout were not carried out: access was only by slip roads to and from the roundabout. In 1999, a new slip road was built that allowed eastward traffic on the ring road, via a mini-roundabout, to enter the motorway directly and avoid the Staygate roundabout. In 2004, the junction was further remodelled, so that traffic leaving the motorway and wishing to turn eastward on the ring road continues under the roundabout, and round to join the roundabout from the opposite site ...
