Lunacon
Lunacon was an annual science fiction and fantasy convention organized by the New York Science Fiction Society - The Lunarians, Inc. Held from 1957 to 2017, it was the oldest science fiction convention in (usually) New York State, and was generally held on the third weekend of March. The programming was a typical fannish convention, including panel discussions on a variety of topics, anime, filk music, crafts workshops, an art show and auction, a games room, and a large masquerade. The logo commonly used for Lunacon is actually the logo of the New York Science Fiction Society - the Lunarians, Inc. and was illustrated by Wally Wood. It is the third, and most well known, version of the logo and is affectionately known as "The Loonie". Most years, one of the guest artists created his or her own variation on the logo for the convention. Larry Dixon (fantasy Artist)
Larry Dixon (born July 28, 1966) is an American fantasy artist and novelist. Background Dixon, the son of a Delta Force career commando, studied at The North Carolina School of the Arts and at Savannah College of Art & Design. In 1992, he married fantasy author Mercedes Lackey; they live in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. Dixon, a sports car enthusiast, is also a storm spotter and volunteer firefighter. Naomi Novik
Naomi Novik (born 1973) is an American author of speculative fiction. She is known for the Temeraire (series), ''Temeraire'' series (2006–2016), an alternate history of the Napoleonic Wars involving dragons, and her The Scholomance Trilogy, ''Scholomance'' fantasy series (2020–2022). Her standalone fantasy novels ''Uprooted (novel), Uprooted'' (2015) and ''Spinning Silver'' (2018) were inspired by Polish folklore and the Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale respectively. Mercedes Lackey
Mercedes Ritchie Lackey (born June 24, 1950) is an American writer of Fantasy literature, fantasy novels. Many of her novels and trilogies are interlinked and set in the world of Velgarth, mostly in and around the country of Valdemar (fictional country), Valdemar. Her Valdemar novels include interaction between human and non-human protagonists with many different cultures and social mores. Her other main world is similar to Earth, but it includes clandestine populations of elves, mages, vampires, and other mythical beings. The ''Bedlam's Bard'' books describe a young man with the power to work magic through music; the ''SERRAted Edge'' books are about racecar driving elves; and the ''Diana Tregarde'' thrillers center on a Wiccan who combats evil. Tanya Huff
Tanya Sue Huff (born 1957) is a Canadian fantasy author. Her stories have been published since the late 1980s, including five fantasy series and one science fiction series. One of these, her ''Tanya Huff bibliography#Blood series, Blood Books'' series, featuring detective Vicki Nelson, was adapted for television under the title ''Blood Ties (TV series), Blood Ties''. Biography Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Huff was raised in Kingston, Ontario. Her first sale as a writer was to ''The Picton Gazette'' when she was ten. They paid $10 for two of her poems.
