Moncton (; ) is the most populous city in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Situated in the Petitcodiac River Valley, Moncton lies at the geographic centre of the Maritime Provinces. The city has earned the nickname "Hub City" because of its central inland location in the region and its history as a railway and land transportation hub for the Maritimes. As of the 2021 Census, the city had a population of 79,470, a metropolitan population of 157,717 and a land area of . Although the Moncton area was first settled in 1733, Moncton was officially founded in 1766 with the arrival of Pennsylvania German immigrants from Philadelphia. Initially an agricultural settlement, Moncton was not incorporated until 1855. It was named for Lt. Col. Robert Monckton, the British officer who had captured nearby Fort Beauséjour a century earlier. Dieppe () is a city in the Canadian maritime province of New Brunswick. Statistics Canada counted the population at 28,114 in 2021, making it the fourth-largest city in the province. Dieppe's history and identity goes back to the eighteenth century. Formerly known as Leger's Corner, it was incorporated as a town in 1952 under the Dieppe name, and designated as a city in 2003. Sunny Brae, New Brunswick
Sunny Brae is a neighbourhood in Moncton, New Brunswick. History In 1867, Sunny Brae existed as farm land with perhaps as few as two houses in the area. One of the earliest settlers in Sunny Brae was Alexander Wright who came from Scotland and it was suggested that he gave it the name "Sunny Brae". In the 1870s, Rev. Stephen Humphrey owned most of the farmland and it was subdivided into lots known as the Russell survey. The lots were gradually taken up by settlers. A church bearing the Humphrey name currently serves the area, and has for many decades. In 1904, Sunny Brae was a community with a post office, two stores and a population of 200.
