Landslake Lions
Landslake Lions is a Dutch basketball club based in Landsmeer, North Holland. The men's team currently plays in the Promotiedivisie, the second tier of basketball in the Netherlands. The women's team plays in the Vrouwen Basketball League, the Dutch first tier. The Lions play their game at the ICL Sportcenter, which has a capacity of 900 people. Promotiedivisie
The Promotiedivisie (English: Promotion Division) is the second tier of basketball in the Netherlands and is the highest amateur competition in the country. At the end of a Promotiedivisie-season, a Final Four is played to decide the new champion. The champion technically earns the right to promote to the Dutch Basketball League, although it only happens in exceptional cases, because a club has to turn professional to play in the league. Vrouwen Basketball League
The Women's Basketball League (WBL) is the highest level of women's basketball in the Netherlands. The first season was played in 1949. Blue Stars is the record titleholder of the league with 20 championships. As of 2021, the league consists of nine teams. History From its establishment, the league was known as "Eredivisie". In 2019, the league name was changed from Vrouwen Basketball League (VBL) to Women's Basketball League (WBL). The 2019–20 season was cancelled prematurely because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first time the competition was not played out. North Holland
North Holland ( nl, Noord-Holland, ) is a province of the Netherlands in the northwestern part of the country. EuroBasket, also commonly referred to as the European Basketball Championship, is the main international basketball competition that is contested quadrennially, by the senior men's national teams that are governed by FIBA Europe, which is the European zone within the International Basketball Federation. Berend Weijs (born 15 December 1988) is a Dutch basketball player who last played for Apollo Amsterdam. Standing at , he plays as center and played college basketball for two seasons for Harcum College and two seasons for Maryland. Since then, he has been active as a professional player in the Netherlands. Professional career After his collegiate time, he spent two seasons in the Dutch Basketball League with Apollo Amsterdam. Michael Madanly
Micheal Madanly (born 10 March 1981 in Aleppo), better known as Michel Madanly or just Micho, is a Syrian professional basketball player. Most known in his prime playing for Jalaa SC's basketball programme from 2004 to 2011, he also played in a number of Syrian and international basketball clubs in China, Philippines, Lebanon and the Netherlands and a regular feature for many years in the Syrian national basketball team. Nino Gorissen
Nino Pierre Gorissen (born 31 December 1997) is a Dutch professional basketball player as captain for the Den Helder Suns. He is the shortest player to ever play in the BNXT League being 1.75m (5 ft 9 in) tall. He formerly played for BAL Weert in the now replaced DBL. Professional career Gorissen started playing basketball at the age of 6 when he joined the Landslake Lions. He would continue playing there until the age of 15 when he moved to Bolwerk Waterland which was collaborating with the Landslake Lions at the time. He would however return to the Landslake Lions in 2015 where he played in the Promotiedivisie for two years. Afterwards in 2017 Gorissen moved to BAL Weert.
