Den Ilp
Den Ilp () is a Dutch village. It is located in the municipality of Landsmeer, North Holland, just north of Amsterdam. The village's population was 809 as of January 2007. In the Netherlands, the village is known for its abundant lighting displays in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Build-up and proximity The shape of Den Ilp is nearly vertical, and is mostly shaped around a single road of the same name, with two roads branching off westward halfway along Den Ilp. Den Ilp characterised as a narrow road flanked by ditches with individual bridges leading to separate houses. The village is connected to the main village of Landsmeer. Landsmeer is in turn connected to Amsterdam and Oostzaan. To the north lies the hamlet (place), hamlet of Purmerland, on the edge of the municipality of Landsmeer and closer to Purmerend. Purmerland
Purmerland () is a village of 395 (January 2007) in the municipality of Landsmeer, North Holland, the Netherlands. It is located just north of Den Ilp and just south of the housing estate of Weidevenne, part of the city of Purmerend. It is directly connected to both of these as Purmerland, like Den Ilp and Landsmeer is mainly characterised by ribbon building along the main road. Purmerland was part of the Free and high Lordship of Purmerend, Purmerland and Ilpendam. History The village was first mentioned in 1358 as "de Kercke van Purmer", and means "land belonging to Purmer". Although the present size of the village would not suggest it, Purmerland was once a village of some importance. Bernt Schneiders
Bernt Schneiders (born as Bernard Bram Schneiders 2 April 1959 in Breukelen) is a Dutch politician who is a member of the Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) and. From July 2006 until September 2016 he was mayor of Haarlem. Career Schneiders studied law and worked after he finished his studies for the Queen's Commissioner in the province of North Holland. He became the mayor of Landsmeer in 1995 and served for six years until 2001. After he finished his term as mayor of Landsmeer, he became the mayor of the town Heemskerk which he served for five years. On 4 July 2006, Schneiders was appointed the mayor of Haarlem, the capital city of North Holland. Jaap Oudkerk
Jacob "Jaap" Oudkerk (2 August 1937 – 17 February 2024) was a Dutch cyclist. He competed in the 4000 m team pursuit at the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics and finished in fifth and third place, respectively. Oudkerk was also active in motor-paced racing. After winning the world championships in the amateurs category in 1964 he turned professional and won three more world championship medals, including a gold in 1969. Oudkerk was the husband of Marianne Heemskerk, a Dutch Olympic swimmer. Jaap Oudkerk died on 17 February 2024, at the age of 86. Sam Olij
Simon Paulus Olij (5 October 1900, Landsmeer – 4 August 1975, Amsterdam) was a Dutch heavyweight boxer who attended the 1928 Summer Olympics. During World War II, he was a Nazi collaborator. Olij was later sentenced to death but was reprieved and served a seven-year prison sentence. Boxing There he was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the men's heavyweight division by eventual gold medalist Arturo Rodríguez from Argentina. Châtenay-Malabry () is a commune in the southwestern suburbs of Paris. It is located from the center of Paris. The French writer Chateaubriand lived in the estate at Châtenay-Malabry. Bergneustadt () is a municipality in the eastern part of the Oberbergischer Kreis (district), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located 50 km east of Cologne. It is part of the Berg region.
