Lake Öreg (meaning "old lake") () is a lake near Tata, Hungary. Location The lake is situated in the middle of the town of Tata. Adjoining the South-east quarter of the lake is a wooded area. Tata, Hungary
Tata (; ) is a town in Komárom-Esztergom County, northwestern Hungary, northwest of the county town Tatabánya. Geography Location Tata is located in the valley between the Gerecse Mountains and Vértes Mountains, some from Budapest, the Hungarian capital city. By virtue of its location, it is a railway and road junction. Motorway M1 (E60, E75) from Vienna to Budapest passes through the outer city limits, and the railway line Budapest–Vienna goes through the city. Climate Tata's climate is classified as oceanic climate (Köppen ''Cfb''). The annual average temperature is , the hottest month in July is , and the coldest month is in January. Tata Castle
Tata Castle, built at the mid 14th-century on the northern tip of Lake Öreg (Old Lake), is one of the jewels of Tata, Hungary. Its blooming can be dated to the reign of Sigismund of Luxembourg (r. 1433–1437) and Mátyás Hunyadi (r. 1458–1490) as the summer resort of the king and a favoured residence. It was burnt by Habsburgs and later renovated. The walls of the castle reflect the marks of romantic style which is due to the Esterházy family The House of Esterházy, also spelled Eszterházy (), is a Hungarian nobility, Hungarian noble family with origins in the Middle Ages.
