Kotri (, ) is a city and the headquarters of the Kotri Taluka of Jamshoro District of Sindh province in Pakistan. Located on the right bank of the Indus River, it is the 118th most populous city in Pakistan. Name The name ''Koṭri'' is the diminutive form of the word ''koṭ'', meaning "fort"; thus, the name means "little fort". Demographics As per the 2023 Census of Pakistan, the population of Kotri city was recorded as 106,615. According to the 1998 Census, the population of the city was 62,085. Kotri Bridge
Kotri Bridge () is a road-rail bridge situated between Kotri and Hyderabad, Sindh, Hyderabad on Indus River in Sindh, Pakistan. History It was opened to traffic on 25 May 1900 and was reconstructed in 1931. It stretches over five spans and the total length of the bridge is . It has single railway track and roads on either side of railway track. In the early 1980s another railway bridge, known as Mehran Railway Bridge, was constructed alongside the old bridge. Jamshoro District (, ) is a Districts of Sindh, Pakistan, district of Sindh province, Pakistan. Jamshoro city is the capital while Kotri is the largest city of the Jamshoro District. The district borders Dadu district to the north. To the east, the Indus separates it from Shaheed Benazirabad District, Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari District, Matiari and Hyderabad District, Sindh, Hyderabad districts. Kotri Barrage
Kotri Barrage, also known as the Ghulam Muhammad Barrage, is a barrage on the Indus River between Jamshoro and Hyderabad in the Sindh province of Pakistan. The barrage was completed in 1955 and inaugurated by Ghulam Muhammad, then governor-general of Pakistan. It is used to control water flow in the Indus for irrigation and flood control purposes. Ali Baba (writer)
Ali Baba (, ), (1940 – 8 August 2016) was a renowned short story writer, novelist, poet and playwright of Sindhi including Urdu-language. He received awards for Pride of Performance. He died on 8 August 2016 due to heart attack in his home Karachi. Early life Ali Baba's actual name was Ali Muhammad and he was born to Muhammed Ramzan Rind at Kotri, Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan in 1940. His parents migrated from Balochistan to Sehwan Sharif Sindh. Afterward they made Kotri as permanent residence. He got primary education from Nango line primary school Kotri and matriculation from Sher Dil Khan Municipal High school Kotri. His father served in railway department. He also served as clerk but resigned. Later he joined as Assistant Manager in a textile mill. He left this job as well. He started writing from 1965. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) () is a federal agency under the Government of Pakistan. It is an attached department of the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives. It works for collecting statistics in the country. History In 1947, the ''Central Statistical Office'' (CSO) was set up by the government of Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan. In 1950, CSO became an attached department of the Economic Affairs Division. In 1972, on the recommendation of IBRD Mission, Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto upgraded the Central Statistical Office to a full-fledged government division. In 1981, the bureau was reorganized and its technical wing (CSO) was converted into the then ''Federal Bureau of Statistics''.
