Veszprém
Veszprém (; , , , ) is one of the oldest urban areas in Hungary, and a city with county rights. It lies approximately north of the Lake Balaton. It is the administrative center of the county of the same name. Etymology The city's name derives from the West Slavic-language personal name ''Bezprem'' or '' Bezprym'' (Proto-Slavic ''Bezprěmъ'') which translates literally to "stubborn", "self-confident, not willing to retreat". The NB II, currently known as the Merkantil Bank Liga for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of Hungarian football. At the end of the 2004–05 season, the tournament format was changed from one division of 14 teams to two divisions: ''Keleti'' (Eastern) and ''Nyugati'' (Western), each with 16 teams, though now it's just one league table with 16 teams as of the 2024–25 season. The champion and the runner-up will ascend to the first division while the two lowest teams in NB II are relegated to NB III. The Nemzeti Bajnokság (, ), also known as NB I or Fizz Liga after its title sponsor, OTP Bank's webshop subsidiary, is a professional association football league in Hungary and the highest level of the Hungarian football league system. Twelve teams compete in the league, playing each other three times, once at home, once away, and the third match is played at the stadium that the last match was not played at. Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic On 16 August 2020, the match between Puskás Akadémia FC and Budapest Honvéd FC were postponed due to the fact that one player was tested positive for coronavirus. Teams Debreceni VSC, Debrecen and Kaposvári Rákóczi FC, Kaposvár finished the 2019–20 Nemzeti Bajnokság I in the last two places and thus were relegated to 2020–21 Nemzeti Bajnokság II, NB II division.
