Nemzeti Bajnokság II
The NB II, currently known as the Merkantil Bank Liga for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of Hungarian football. At the end of the 2004–05 season, the tournament format was changed from one division of 14 teams to two divisions: ''Keleti'' (Eastern) and ''Nyugati'' (Western), each with 16 teams, though now it's just one league table with 16 teams as of the 2024–25 season. The champion and the runner-up will ascend to the first division while the two lowest teams in NB II are relegated to NB III. Format On 2 March 2017, the Hungarian Football Federation announced that the number of the teams in the Nemzeti Bajnokság II will not be reduced to 12. Budapesti Vasutas Sport Club-Zugló commonly known as BVSC-Zugló is a professional football club based in Zugló, Budapest, Hungary, that competes in the Nemzeti Bajnokság II. The club was founded in 1911. Its football section became closed in 2001, but has now reopened, while other sections that are still operational are table tennis, wrestling, water polo. The table tennis department won the European Cup of 1980 and several national championships. Dunaújváros FC (1952)
Dunaújváros FC (previously known as ''Dunaferr SE'') was a Hungarian football team from Dunaújváros. Though they won the Hungarian NB I in 1999–2000, recently they played in the second league, until the team withdrew in March 2009, ceasing its operations. History Domestic The team was founded in 1952 and one year later they were promoted to the Hungarian first division under the name ''Sztálinvárosi Vasmű Építők''. In 1954 they were relegated to the second division and from then on they bounced back and forth between the two. From 1961 the team was known as ''Dunaújvárosi Kohász SE''. Whilst holding this name their best finish was in 1978, 7th in the NB I. In 1998 they entered the NB I. under the name ''Dunaferr SE'' and won their first and only Hungarian championship in 2000.
