Kingsgrove is a suburb in Southern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Kingsgrove is south-west of the Sydney central business district and lies across the Local government in Australia, local government areas of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, Bayside Council and the Georges River Council. History Governor Philip Gidley King, Philip King granted 500 acres (2 km2) in 1804 to Hannah Laycock (1758–1831), the wife of Quartermaster Thomas Laycock (1756–1809). She named the farm King's Grove in Governor King's honor. This was later simplified to Kingsgrove. The area would be now bounded by Kingsgrove Road, Bexley Road and William Street. Governor King made Thomas Laycock an officer of merit and recommended him to fill the vacancy an ensign in the New South Wales Corps. Two of their sons, William and Samuel were also given land grants of each in the same area in 1804 and Hannah received another in 1812. Kingsgrove Railway Station
Kingsgrove railway station is a heritage-listed railway station located on the East Hills railway line, East Hills line, serving the Sydney suburb of Kingsgrove. It is served by Sydney Trains' Airport & South Line, T8 Airport & South Line services. History Kingsgrove station opened on 21 September 1931 when the East Hills railway line, East Hills line opened from Tempe railway station, Tempe to East Hills railway station, East Hills. It was the original terminus of the double track electrified section from Tempe. Until 1939, passengers transferred at Kinsgrove to a CPH railmotor or steam service to continue their journey towards East Hills. The line was duplicated and electrified beyond Kingsgrove in 1948. The Airport & South Line (numbered T8, coloured green; commonly called the East Hills Line) is a commuter rail service operated by Sydney Trains, connecting the Sydney central business district with the southwestern suburbs via Sydney Airport. Clemton Park, New South Wales
Clemton Park is a suburb in south-western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 13 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown. The suburb is approximately bounded by Cup and Saucer Creek, Bexley Road in the east, William Street in the south and Kingsgrove Road, but excludes most of the properties which face onto those roads. Bexley North, New South Wales
Bexley North is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, south-west of the Sydney CBD. It is part of the St George area. Bexley North is in the local government area of the Bayside Council. History James Chandler named Bexley after his birthplace in London (formerly Kent), England. Chandler bought Sylvester's Farm in 1822, from Thomas Sylvester who had been granted the land about ten years earlier. That year he was also granted of land which stretched from what is now Bexley North to most of Rockdale and Kogarah. Development in the area began in 1884 with the railway line to Hurstville. Belmore is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Belmore is located 11 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown. History Belmore is named after the fourth Earl of Belmore, Governor of New South Wales from 1868 to 1872. The area was known as Darkwater in its early days. Some of the first land grants in 1810 were to Richard Robinson east of Sharp Street and Kingsgrove Road and to Thomas Mansfield, to the west. Francis Wild and John Sullivan were each granted in 1823.
