Kamouraska-Témiscouata
Kamouraska-Témiscouata () is a former provincial electoral district in Quebec, Canada that elected members to the National Assembly of Quebec. As of its final election, it included the municipalities of Kamouraska, Quebec, Kamouraska, La Pocatière, Quebec, La Pocatière, Saint-Athanase, Quebec, Saint-Athanase, Packington, Quebec, Packington, Dégelis, Quebec, Dégelis and Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, Quebec, Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac. It was created for the 1973 Quebec general election, 1973 election from Kamouraska (provincial electoral district), Kamouraska and parts of L'Islet (provincial electoral district), L'Islet and Témiscouata (provincial electoral district), Témiscouata. Kamouraska Regional County Municipality, Quebec
Kamouraska () is a regional county municipality in eastern Quebec, Canada. The regional county municipality seat is Saint-Pascal, but the largest town is La Pocatière. The area is an important research, development and education centre for agriculture. Factories in the region produce metal products and public transportation equipment. One of the people instrumental in settling and developing this area was Pascal Taché, an early seigneur. The name "Kamouraska" comes from an Algonquin word meaning "where rushes grow at the water's edge". 'Kamouraska' comes from the Abenaki, ''ska moraskua'', which means "birch bark here", "there is some white birch bark". This sort of birch bark is used for making canoes and wigwams. Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande () is a municipality in Témiscouata Regional County Municipality in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada. History Between 1915 and 1918, a group of students surveyed part of Robinson Township. In the early 1920s, a few New Brunswick squatters settled there, quickly followed by families from Sainte-Rose-du-Dégelé (now Dégelis), who occupied a strip of land along Baker Creek, then by people from Montreal, Quebec, Beauce and Bellechasse. In 1923, the mission of Saint-Maur was established, a name that recalls the proximity of the parish of Saint-Benoît-de-Packington, Saint Benedict of Nursia having been the teacher of Saint Maur (around 512-584). The Saint-Maur mission was installed near the Romain-Caron bridge on the right as you descend the Meruimticook River. The church was both school and church.
