K.R. Basket Reykjavík
The KR men's basketball team, commonly known as KR or KR Basket, is a professional basketball club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the men's basketball department of Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur (English: Reykjavík Football Club) multi-sport club. It has won the Icelandic championship eighteen times, the most national championships in the men's top-tier league history. It won a record 6 national championships in a row from 2014 to 2019. Recent history In 2017, the team played in FIBA Europe Cup for the first time since 2008. In March 2023, the team was relegated to the second-tier 1. deild karla for the first time in its history. A year later, it finished first in 1. deild karla and gained promotion back to the Úrvalsdeild. Reserve team KR has a men's reserve team that plays in the amateur level Icelandic 3rd-tier Division II and the Icelandic basketball cup, called KR-b. The 2007-08 FIBA EuroCup was the fifth season of FIBA's European professional competition and the last under the name ''EuroCup'' which is now used for the formerly known ULEB Cup. The competition - which was renamed the FIBA EuroChallenge in July 2008- featured 38 competing teams, from 23 different countries following the abolishment of the FIBA EuroCup Challenge in 2007. Icelandic Men's Basketball Company Cup
The Icelandic Men's Basketball Company Cup, commonly known as the Men's Company Cup (Icelandic: Fyrirtækjabikar karla), was an annual basketball competition between clubs in Iceland that was organized by the Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was Iceland's second-tier cup competition, and is not to be confused with Iceland's first-tier cup competition, the Icelandic Cup. History and format The Company Cup was founded in 1996 and its first edition, bearing the name ''Lengjubikarinn'' after its sponsor ''Lengjan'', took place in October and November that year. 1966 Icelandic Men's Basketball Cup
The 1966 Bikarkeppni karla was the 2nd edition of the Icelandic Men's Basketball Cup, won by KR after defeating ÍKF in the cup final. The final four was held in Reykjavík, in the Hálogaland arena in october 1966.
