James Harvey (basketball)
James Harvey (born 15 February 1979) is an Australian former professional basketball player who played 15 seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL). Basketball career Born and raised in Perth, Harvey began playing for the Cockburn Cougars of the State Basketball League (SBL) in 1996 and won the league's Rookie of the Year award the following year. After another successful year in the SBL with the Perry Lakes Hawks in 1998, Harvey signed with the Perth Wildcats for the 1998–99 NBL season and continued playing for the Wildcats until 2004. He was part of Perth's 1999–2000 NBL championship and 2002–03 grand final appearance, and won the league's Most Improved Player award in 2001. Harvey also continued to play in the SBL with Perry Lakes in 1999, and with the Willetton Tigers in 2000, leading the league in scoring that year with 518 total points. The 2015–16 NBL season was the 38th season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of eight teams contested the league. The regular season was played between 7 October 2015 and 14 February 2016, followed by a post-season featuring the top four in late February and March 2016. During the off-season the Wollongong Hawks reverted to their original name Illawarra Hawks which was last used in 1998. Scott McGregor (born 5 February 1976) is an Australian former professional basketball player. Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, McGregor attended the Australian Institute of Sport from 1994 to 1995. He began his NBL career with the Newcastle Falcons, where he won the NBL Rookie of the Year award. In 1997, McGregor played in the Australian Under 22's team that won a gold medal in the FIBA World Championships in Melbourne. McGregor was one of many future NBL stars, including Chris Anstey, Sam Mackinnon and Frank Drmic, to suit up in the team. After the 1997 NBL season, McGregor moved to the Sydney Kings where he would play until 2000, making the switch to Sydney's cross-town rivals. State Basketball League
NBL1 West, formerly the State Basketball League (SBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Western Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Western Australia partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Western Australia.
