Jack Welch (field Hockey)
Jack Welch (born 26 October 1997) is an Australian field hockey player, who plays as a forward. Personal life Jack Welch was born and raised in Hobart, Tasmania. Career Domestic leagues Australian Hockey League Jack Welch made his debut for the Tassie Tigers in 2015, at the Australian Hockey League (AHL) in Darwin. Throughout his four-season AHL career, Welch won two bronze medals with the Tigers, his first in 2015, and his second during the final edition of the tournament in 2018. Hockey One After the introduction of Hockey Australia's new domestic league, Hockey One, in 2019, Welch was named to the rebranded Tassie Tigers team for the competition's inaugural edition. National teams Under–21 Welch first appeared for the Australia U–21 side in 2015, at the Sultan of Johor Cup in Johor Bahru. The competition serves as Australia's premier domestic hockey league, helping unearth future talent for selection to the Australian national teams; the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos. Hockey WA
Hockey WA is the organisation responsible for the sport of Field Hockey in the state of Western Australia. Hockey WA is represented in the Hockey One competition by the Perth Thundersticks. Hockey WA also run the top club competitions in Australia, the Hockey WA Premier League for both Men and Women. In late 2003, Hockey WA was formed from a merger between the Western Australian Men's Hockey Association and the Western Australian Women's Hockey Association. It is approaching 100 years since the establishment of the individual Associations and it is anticipated that the amalgamation will be of major benefit to Hockey in Western Australia. Men's FIH Pro League
The Men's FIH Pro League is an international men's field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), which replaces the Men's FIH Hockey World League. The competition also serves as a qualifier for the Hockey World Cup and the Field hockey at the Summer Olympics, Olympic Games. The first edition started in 2019. Nine teams secured their places for four years. Format Nine men's and women's teams compete in a round-robin tournament with home and away matches, played from October to June, with the top team at the end of the season winning the league. From 2021–22 Men's FIH Pro League, 2021-22 onwards, the bottom team at the end of the season will be relegated and will be replaced by the winner of a new competition called the Men's FIH Nations Cup. 2019 Men's FIH Pro League
The 2019 Men's FIH Pro League was the first season of the Pro League, the premier men's field hockey national team league series. The tournament started in January 2019 and finished in June 2019 in Amstelveen, Netherlands. Australia defeated Belgium 3–2 in the final to win the first FIH Pro League title. The competition also served as a qualifier for the 2020 Summer Olympics with the four best teams qualifying for the FIH Olympic Qualifiers taking place in October and November 2019. Qualification Nine teams competed in a round-robin tournament with home and away matches, played from January to June, with the top four teams advancing to the final at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands.
