Strand, Norway
Strand is a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Ryfylke. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Jørpeland. The municipality lies across the fjord from the city of Stavanger. The Ryfast tunnel system connects Stavanger and Strand by a very long undersea tunnel. The villages of Sørskår and Fiskå are located in northern Strand, on the southern shore of the Årdalsfjorden. This area of Strand produces fruit, vegetables, and dairy products. Jørpeland Church
Jørpeland Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Strand Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the town of Jørpeland. It is the church for the Jørpeland parish which is part of the Ryfylke prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The large, gray, concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1969 using designs by the architects Turid and Kristen Bernhoff Evensen. The church seats about 450 people. Tony Knapp
Anthony Knapp (13 October 1936 – 22 March 2023) was an English football player and manager, who played as a defender in the English football league in the 1960s. Career Knapp was born in Newstead, Nottinghamshire. He trained with Nottingham Forest before becoming professional, as a player for Leicester City (1955–61, 86 matches), Southampton (1961–67, 260 matches, 2 goals), Coventry City (1967–68, 11 matches), Los Angeles Wolves (1968) and Tranmere Rovers (1969–71, 36 matches, 1 goal). Stian Heimlund Skjæveland (born November 19, 1973, in Stavanger) is a Norwegian representational painter and sculptor in the figurative tradition who also draws in black and white. Preikestolen
Preikestolen or Prekestolen () is a tourist attraction in the municipality of Strand in Rogaland county, Norway. Preikestolen is a steep cliff which rises above Lysefjorden. Atop the cliff, there is an almost flat top of approximately . Preikestolen is located near the western part of the fjord, and on its north side. Tourism at the site has been increasing in the early 21st century, with 300,000 visitors in 2024, making it one of the most-visited natural tourist attractions in Norway.
