Daisy Tourné (17 March 1951 – 19 November 2022) was a Uruguayan politician, teacher, and syndicalist. Early life and career Daisy Tourné was the daughter of María Obdulia Valdez and Pedro César Tourné, she was a niece to former Senator Uruguay Tourné, of the conservative National Party. Tourné was an elementary school teacher and a social psychologist by profession. Tourné aligned politically with the Frente Amplio movement, which was in government office between 2005 and 2020. Between 1995 and 2007 Tourné served as a deputy for Montevideo, prior to taking up ministerial office. Rodolfo Nin Novoa (born 25 January 1948) is a Uruguayan politician who served as the 14th vice president of Uruguay from 2005 to 2010. He also served as Minister of Foreign Relations of Uruguay from 2015 to 2020 under Tabaré Vázquez. A member of the Broad Front, he is the leader of the Progressive Alliance faction. The Chamber of Representatives () is the lower house of the General Assembly of Uruguay (''Asamblea General de Uruguay''). The Chamber has 99 members, elected for a five-year term by proportional representation with at least two members per department. Tupamaros
The National Liberation Movement – Tupamaros (, MLN-T) was a Marxist–Leninist urban guerrilla group that operated in Uruguay during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1989, the group was admitted into the Broad Front and a large number of its members joined the Movement of Popular Participation (MPP). Formed in the early 1960s, the MLN-T sought to create a revolutionary state through armed struggle, taking inspiration from the 1953–59 Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro. Just like the majority of Cuban revolutionaries, the Tupamaros operated in primarily urban areas.
