José de Torres y Martínez Bravo (16701738) was a Spanish composer, organist, music theorist and music publisher. Biography Torres was born in Madrid, where he served as organist of the ''capilla real'' from 1697. With the arrival of the House of Bourbon, Bourbons, Torres was expelled from the ''capilla,'' but avoided exile and was rehabilitated. From 1702 he established a music printing press, Imprenta de Música, the first in Iberia. With the continuing exile of Sebastián Durón, Torres served the former Duke of Anjou, now Philip V of Spain, as ''maestro de capilla'' and rector of the boys choir (Colegio de Niños Cantorcicos), replacing the interim maestros Matías Cabrera and Nicolás Humanes, in 1707. José Antonio Torres Martinó (1916 – 22 April 2011) was a Puerto Rican painter, artist, journalist and writer. Martinó founded or expanded many of Puerto Rico's major media, artistic and journalism organizations. He was known for abstract paintings, some of which are on display in the collection of the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. Early years Torres was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1916. José Augusto Torres Gil (born 28 March 1995) is a cyclist who competes in freestyle BMX. Born in Bolivia, he represents Argentina internationally. He won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Career Torres won a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. He competed at the 2023 UCI BMX Freestyle World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
