José Sabino Herrera Dagdug
José Sabino Herrera Dagdug (born 21 June 1980) is a Mexican politician from the state of Tabasco. Previously affiliated with the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), as a senator-elect for his home state he joined the ranks of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) on 28 August 2024. Career Herrera Dagdug was born into a cattle-raising family in Huimanguillo, Tabasco, in 1980. He is a graduate in veterinary medicine. He served in the Congress of Tabasco from 2013 to 2015, and was municipal president of Huimanguillo in 2016–2018. In the 2024 general election he contended for one of Tabasco's Senate seats representing the ''Fuerza y Corazón por México'' coalition between the PRD, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the National Action Party (PAN). The coalition placed second in the state and Herrera Dagdug was awarded the state's third seat in the Senate. Tabasco
Tabasco, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Tabasco, is one of the Political divisions of Mexico, 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. Democracy in Mexico dates to the establishment of the federal republic of Mexico in 1824. After a long history under the Spanish Empire (1521–1821), Mexico gained its independence in 1821 and became the First Mexican Empire led by royalist military officer Agustín de Iturbide. Three years later, a federal republic was created under the Constitution of 1824. However, the republic was truncated by a series of military coups, most notably that of politician-general Antonio López de Santa Anna. Santa Anna held immense sway over the fledgling Mexican democracy until 1855, when he was ousted by liberal politicians. The liberals drafted and ratified the Constitution of 1857, which enshrined rights such as universal male suffrage and eliminated Church and military privileges. Jesús Zambrano Grijalva (born 1 October 1953) is a Mexican politician who served as President of the Party of the Democratic Revolution from 2011 to 2014 and from 2020 to 2024, becoming the final holder of the position due the loss of party registration in 2024. He also served as Deputy of the LVI and LXI Legislatures of the Mexican Congress, both times representing Sonora, and in the LXIII Legislature representing the Federal District. A supermajority is a requirement for a proposal to gain a specified level of support which is greater than the threshold of one-half used for a simple majority.
