Jorge Plácido
Jorge Manuel Plácido Bravo da Costa (born 19 June 1964), known as Plácido, is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a forward. He played for 11 clubs in a 19-year professional career, in both Portugal and France. He amassed Primeira Liga totals of 192 games and 30 goals over a decade, and was also a Portugal international. Club career Born in Luanda, Portuguese Angola, Plácido made his professional and Primeira Liga debut aged 17, with lowly Amora FC. After showing promise at his following two clubs, Vitória F.C. and G.D. Chaves (with eight goals, he helped the latter to qualify for the UEFA Cup for the only time in its history) the 23-year-old signed for FC Porto, but failed to adjust grossly. The 1986 FIFA World Cup was the 13th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial Association football, football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was played in Mexico from 31 May to 29 June 1986. The tournament was the second to feature a 24-team format. Colombia had been originally chosen to host the competition by FIFA but, largely due to economic reasons, was not able to do so, and resigned in November 1982. Mexico was selected as the new host in May 1983, and became the first country to host the World Cup more than once, after previously 1970 FIFA World Cup, hosting the 1970 edition. Saltillo Affair
The Saltillo Affair () was a series of controversies surrounding the Portugal national football team during its participation in the Mexico 1986 FIFA World Cup. The affair was named after the Mexican city of Saltillo, Coahuila, in which the team was headquartered for the competition, and also the place where the majority of the described events occurred. The team had qualified for only one previous World Cup tournament, in 1966, in which it finished third. Following a difficult qualification, the 1986 campaign did not start well with the suspicion of doping falling on one of the players who had been selected for the tournament. Although that test was later proven wrong, that was the first of many controversies to affect the team in the following weeks, including threats of strikes from the players, the announcement of a series of demands to the Portuguese Federation and reports of inappropriate behaviour at the team's headquarters. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. In association football, a penalty shoot-out (previously known as kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a tie (draw), draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as Overtime (sports)#Association football, extra time (if used) has expired. AS Cannes
Association Sportive de Cannes Football (; commonly referred to as AS Cannes or simply Cannes) is a French association football club based in Cannes.
