Jordan Díaz (baseball)
Jordan David Díaz Sandoval (born August 13, 2000) is a Colombian professional baseball second baseman for the Orix Buffaloes of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics. Career Oakland Athletics Díaz signed with the Oakland Athletics as an international free agent on August 13, 2016. As of 2021, in the minor leagues he had played 205 games at third base, 24 at first base, 12 at DH, 4 in left field, and one each at second base and catcher, and had a career slash line of .271/.324/.417. On November 19, 2021, the Athletics added Díaz to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. 2022 Díaz began the 2022 season with the Double–A Midland RockHounds, and was promoted to Triple–A after hitting .319 with 15 home runs and 58 RBI across 94 games. Orix Buffaloes
The are a Nippon Professional Baseball team formed as a result of the 2004 Nippon Professional Baseball realignment by the merger of the Orix BlueWave of Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, and the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes of Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The team plays in the Pacific League and is under ownership by Orix, a financial services company founded in Osaka. The combined team began play in 2005. The Buffaloes split home games between Kyocera Dome Osaka, the home of the original Buffaloes franchise, and Kobe Sports Park Baseball Stadium, the former home of the BlueWave, when the Hanshin Tigers have to use Kyocera Dome. The Rule 5 draft is a Major League Baseball (MLB) player draft that occurs each year in December, at the annual Winter Meeting of general managers. The Rule 5 draft aims to prevent teams from stockpiling too many young players on their minor league affiliate teams when other organizations would be willing to have them play in the major leagues. The 2023 Caribbean Series was the 65th edition of the Caribbean Series, played at La Rinconada Baseball Stadium in Caracas and Jorge Luis García Carneiro Stadium in La Guaira, Venezuela from February 2 to February 10, 2023.
