Jeff Farmer (footballer)
Jeff Farmer (born 24 June 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer of Aboriginal Australians, Aboriginal descent. He was the first Indigenous player to kick 400 goals in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Farmer hails from Tambellup, Western Australia. AFL career Melbourne Known as "The Wizard" (or "The Wiz") because of his uncanny ability to create goals from nothing, Farmer began his Australian Football League, AFL career with the Melbourne Football Club in 1995. His career best goalkicking performance came against Collingwood Football Club, Collingwood at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG in 2000 when he kicked 9 goals in the second half after barely being able to get a touch in the first two-quarters. He was taken from the field for the third quarter and was on the interchange bench before Ben Beams suffered a broken wrist and was unable to continue. Tambellup, Western Australia
The townsite of Tambellup is located in the Great Southern (Western Australia), Great Southern region of Western Australia, 317 km south-east of Perth on the Great Southern Highway where it crosses the Gordon River (Western Australia), Gordon River. The 1997 AFL season was the 101st season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. Before the season, the Port Adelaide Football Club (SANFL) was admitted to the league, increasing the South Australian membership to two clubs.
