Javier González (politician)
Javier Benito González Arroyo is a Puerto Rican politician who served as the acting Secretary of State of Puerto Rico from October 2015 until December 2015, after the resignation of David Bernier. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Secretary of State of Puerto Rico. He is a member of the Popular Democratic Party (PDP). On October 21, 2015 González, as Deputy Secretary of State, witnessed a deal with Taiwan Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), is a country in East Asia. The secretary of state of Puerto Rico () leads all efforts promoting the cultural, political, and economical relations between Puerto Rico and jurisdictions within the United States or foreign countries. It was created by Article IV of the Constitution of Puerto Rico, establishing the secretary as acting governor when the governor is unable to perform their duties—a post equivalent to that of a lieutenant governor. As such, the secretary of state is first in line of succession to the governorship of Puerto Rico. Today, the post is similar to that of a foreign minister. David Bernier
David Enrique "Quique" Bernier Rivera (; born January 21, 1977) is a Puerto Rican dentist and politician that has served in various roles in public service in Puerto Rico. Bernier first served as executive director of the Office of Youth Affairs of Puerto Rico and was later confirmed as the youngest Secretary of Sports and Recreation of Puerto Rico in history. Suárez Meléndez is a Puerto Rican lawyer and politician who was the Secretary of State of Puerto Rico, as well as being the current executive director of the Puerto Rico Convention Center District Authority.
