Isisford–Blackall Road is a continuous road route in the Longreach and Blackall-Tambo local government areas of Queensland, Australia. It is a state-controlled regional road (number 716), rated as a local road of regional significance (LRRS). Route description The road commences as St Mary Street at an intersection with the Isisford–Ilfracombe Road (known as St Cyril Street) in , in the Longreach region. It runs south-east before becoming Isisford–Blackall Road as it leaves the town. It turns north-east and then south-east until it reaches an intersection with Isisford–Emmet Road, which continues south-east. Landsborough Highway
Landsborough Highway is a highway in western Queensland, Australia, running in the northwest–southeast direction from Morven to Cloncurry. The Landsborough Highway runs through vast tracts of land that was once occupied by William Landsborough, an Australian explorer of the 19th century. Blackall And Yaraka Branch Railways
The Blackall and Yaraka Branch Railways are railway lines in Central West Queensland, Australia. The former branch connected the small town of Jericho on the Central Western railway line with Blackall and the latter branch connected Blackall to the even smaller town of Yaraka. Blackall was named after Sir Samuel Wensley Blackall who from 1868 to 1871 was the second Governor of Queensland. History In the late 1890s it was government policy that Queensland's three major trunk lines should be extended to the south-west in order to link vast remote areas with the coast. Thomas Mitchell (explorer)
Sir Thomas Livingstone Mitchell (15 June 1792 – 5 October 1855), often called Major Mitchell, was a Scottish Surveyor (surveying), surveyor and European land exploration of Australia, explorer of Southeastern Australia. He was born in Scotland and served in the British Army during the Peninsular War. In 1827 he took up an appointment as Assistant Surveyor General of New South Wales. The following year he became Surveyor General of New South Wales, Surveyor General and remained in this position until his death. Isis Downs Station is a pastoral lease that currently operates as a cattle station but has previously operated as a sheep station in Queensland, Australia. Sir Augustus Charles Gregory (1 August 1819 – 25 June 1905) was an English-born Australian explorer and surveyor. Between 1846 and 1858 he undertook four major expeditions. He was the first Surveyor-General of Queensland. He was appointed a lifetime Member of the Queensland Legislative Council. Samuel Blackall
Samuel Wensley Blackall (1 May 1809 – 2 January 1871) was an Irish soldier and politician, who was the second Governor of Queensland from 1868 until he died in office in 1871. Early life Blackall was born in Dublin, Ireland into a prosperous Irish family and attended Trinity College, Dublin at the age of 15, but did not graduate. In 1827 he joined the 85th (Bucks Volunteers) Regiment of Foot, as an ensign and was appointed a lieutenant in 1832. He sold his commission in 1833 after five years service and joined the Royal Longford Militia, as a major.
