Ion Ionescu (footballer, Born 1936)
Ion V. "Jackie" Ionescu (2 May 1936 – 30 June 2024) was a Romanian football player and coach. He was mostly known for his coaching spells at Politehnica Timișoara with whom he won a Cupa României and reached three other finals, also eliminating Celtic in the 1980–81 European Cup Winners' Cup. Early life Ion Ionescu was born on 2 May 1936 in the Crai Nou village which is part of the Rudna commune from Romania. In 2016, during an interview with the ''Adevărul'' newspaper, he described his early life in Rudna:"I lived exclusively in Rudna, among Serbs. I was born in Crai Nou, but my father built a house in Rudna. It was nice. We had a neat house near the train station. We had fruit trees, a very rich vineyard, a small lake with fish, it was an idyllic country life before the Second World War, with Serbian friends, Hungarian friends, Romanian friends. Giulvăz
Giulvăz (; ; Banat Swabian: ''Djulwess'') is a commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of four villages: Crai Nou, Giulvăz (commune seat), Ivanda and Rudna. Geography Giulvăz is located in the southwestern part of the Timiș County. It borders Peciu Nou to the north; Ciacova to the east and southeast, the limit on a great length being the Timiș River; Foeni and Uivar to the west and southwest. Cupa României
The Cupa României () is a Association football, football cup competition for List of football clubs in Romania, Romanian teams which has been held annually since 1933–34 Cupa României, 1933–34, except during World War II. Nicolae Dumitrescu
Nicolae "Coco" Dumitrescu (8 December 1921 – 17 March 1999) was a Romanian footballer and manager. As a footballer, he played mainly as a forward and throughout his career, he won four Divizia A titles and two cups with ITA Arad and as a manager, he won two titles with the same team, also in the 1970–71 European Cup season they eliminated Feyenoord who were European champions at that time and for these performances he is considered a symbol of the club. Club career Dumitrescu was born on 8 December 1921 in Bucharest, Romania and he started to play football in 1938 at local club, Suter. In 1941 he went to play for Sparta București with whom he played a Cupa României final which was lost with 4–0 to CFR Turnu Severin. Nicolae Reuter
Nicolae Reuter (born 6 December 1914) was a Romanian footballer who played as a striker. He scored two goals in the 4–0 victory in the 1943 Cupa României final against Sportul Studențesc București, which helped CFR Turnu Severin win the first trophy in the club's history. After he ended his playing career, Reuter worked as a manager. Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1 and officially known as SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Romania and the highest level of the Romanian football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. József Pecsovszky
József Pecsovszky or Iosif Petschovschi (also known as József Perényi; 2 July 1921 – 6 October 1968) was a Romanian footballer. His nickname was ''Peci''. He could play in any position on the pitch, he was even goalkeeper once. Career Pecsovszky played 273 games in Divizia A, scoring a massive 86 goals. For Romania he won 32 caps, scoring 11 goals. Pecsovszky made his debut in Divizia A at the age of 16, as player of Chinezul Timișoara. Pecsovszky played in the Hungarian Football Championship between 1941 and 1944 under the name of ''József Perényi'', winning the Hungarian title with Nagyváradi AC, and played three times for the Hungary national team. His fame was such that in 1946 a Hungarian footballer tried, and even did so for a short while, to steal Pecsovszky's identity, when he recommended himself as the real Pecsovszky in order to sign a contract with RC Strasbourg of France. Iosefin
Iosefin (; ) is a historic district in western Timișoara. It was founded during the mid-18th century, at the beginning being just a village of German settlers, located on the outskirts of the walls of the Timișoara Fortress. Its name comes from that of Emperor Joseph II, during whose reign it was founded. Unlike most of the other Timișoara districts, the historic Iosefin is not divided into further districts or residential areas. However, mostly in the 1970s, numerous new development areas with their own names (but without an administrative function) emerged on the southern edge of Iosefin.
