Ingibjörg Stefanía Pálmadóttir (born 1961) is an Icelandic businesswoman, daughter of Pálmi Jónsson and so, with her three siblings, one of the inheritors of Pálmi's Hagkaup business. Career She attended the Parsons The New School for Design. Ingibjörg is noted for running a range of businesses, sometimes associated with the 'Reykjavík 101' brand popularised by Hallgrímur Helgason's novel ''101 Reykjavík'', prominently including the Reykjavík 101 Hotel, an expensive boutique hotel, and 101 Capital. 101 Capital was declared bankrupt in January 2012. Alongside her husband Jón Ásgeir, Ingibjörg was a prominent figure in the Icelandic banking boom and subsequent 2008–11 Icelandic financial crisis. Pálmi Jónsson (June 3, 1923 – April 4, 1991) was an Icelandic businessman and entrepreneur born in Hofsós, Iceland who founded the large Icelandic supermarket chain Hagkaup, and pioneered the inception of Kringlan Kringlan () is a shopping mall located in the Icelandic capital region. Hagkaup () is an Icelandic hypermarket chain owned by retail company Hagar. Its concept is wide selection of food and non-food products including clothing, electronics, entertainment, seasonal goods and toys. History Founded in 1959 by Pálmi (1923–91) in an old barn as a mail-order company, it found success as a cheaper choice than most other retailers in Reykjavík. The company soon expanded and opened up its first store in the barn. In 1967 Hagkaup opened the first supermarket in Iceland in an old warehouse in Skeifan, Reykjavík, which continues to enjoy great popularity among its customers to this day. Stodir (, FL Group prior to 4 June 2008) is a majority family-owned investment company located in Reykjavík, Iceland. The company was founded on July 20, 1973, under the name Flugleiðir. It was formed as a holding company for Loftleiðir and Air Iceland. FL Group was best known for its subsidiary Icelandair Group, which was sold in October 2006.
