Ilona Bruzsenyák
Ilona Bruzsenyák (born 14 September 1950) is a Hungarian former track and field athlete who competed in the women's pentathlon, long jump and 100 metres hurdles. She was the gold medallist in the long jump at the 1974 European Athletics Championships. Bruzsenyák represented her nation at the Summer Olympics in 1972 and 1976, competing in both long jump and pentathlon. She was a ten-time national champion at the Hungarian Athletics Championships. Athletics (sport)
Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping and throwing. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, cross-country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts. The simplicity of the competitions, and the lack of a need for expensive equipment, makes athletics one of the most common types of sports in the world. Margit Papp
Margit Papp (born 30 April 1948) is a Hungarian former athlete. She competed in the Summer Olympic Games in 1972, 1976 and 1980 and won the gold medal in women's pentathlon at the 1978 European Championships. Career Papp first competed in the European Championships in Budapest 1966 as an 18-year-old, placing 18th in the pentathlon. She made her Olympic debut in Munich in 1972, finishing 23rd with 4074 points. Four years later in Montréal she scored 4535 points and placed 8th. At the 1978 European Championships in Prague Papp scored 4655 points and won the gold medal. She originally placed second behind the defending champion, Nadiya Tkachenko of the Soviet Union, but moved up when Tkachenko was disqualified for doping. Papp made a final Olympic appearance in 1980, placing fifth with 4562 points. 60 Metres
60 metres, or 60-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field. It is a championship event for indoor championships, normally dominated by the best outdoor 100 metres runners. At indoor events, the 60 metres is run on lanes set out in the middle of the 'field', as is the hurdles event over the same distance, thus avoiding some of the effects of the banked track encircling the venue, upon which other track events in indoor events are run. At outdoor venues it is a rare distance, at least for senior athletes. The format of the event is similar to other sprint distances. The sprinters follow three initial instructions: 'on your marks', instructing them to take up position in the starting blocks; 'set', instructing them to adopt a more efficient starting posture, which also isometrically preloads their muscles. The European Combined Events Team Championships is a track and field competition for European combined track and field events specialists, with contests in men's decathlon event and women's heptathlon. The 1972 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad () and officially branded as Munich 1972 (; ), were an international multi-sport event held in Munich, West Germany, from 26 August to 11 September 1972. Györgyi Balogh
Györgyi Balogh (born 1 May 1948) is a Hungarian former sprinter. She placed second in women's 200 metres at the 1971 European Championships in Helsinki and competed in the Summer Olympic Games in 1968 and 1972. Career At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City Balogh competed in the 100 metres, 200 metres and the 4 × 100 metres relay, only qualifying from the first round in the 100 metres, in which she was eliminated in the second round. Balogh also competed in the 1969 European Championships in Athens without much more success, but two years later in Helsinki she won the silver at 200 metres, running 23.26 and losing only to East Germany's Renate Stecher.
