Iglehart House (Columbia, Maryland)
The Iglehart House () was a historic home located in Columbia, Maryland, Howard County, Maryland, now part of the Rouse Company land development. The Iglehart house was a two bay wide, two and a half bay stucco covered stone house. The stone structure matched construction style of the nearby Hickory Ridge. The house stood on a 113-acre property which was part of an original land grand named "Joseph's gift". The Iglehart family was prominent in Howard county leadership in the early 1800s in the antebellum era of tobacco slave plantations. The farm was later owned by Peter Johnson In 1978, the property was recommended for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places for its historic architecture and excellent condition. Hickory Ridge (Highland, Maryland)
Hickory Ridge or White Hall is an historic property located in Highland in Howard County, Maryland, United States. It is registered in the Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties. The 500-acre property known as Hickory Ridge was surveyed by Henry Ridgely III (1690–1749) ("Col. Henry Ridgely"), a grandson of pioneering surveyor Henry Ridgely (1640–1710) who had been granted land by George II of Great Britain. On Henry Ridgely III's death in 1749, the tract was deeded to his son Greenberry Ridgely (1726–1783), who built a stone cottage the same year, which still stands. In 1760 or 1789, Ridgely began building the Georgian architecture primary residence. The building is a two-and-a-half-story structure made of Flemish brick bond. The farm had enslaved labor who worked in fields of tobacco and wheat, and were housed in stone "Quarters". Simpsonville is an unincorporated community in Howard County, Maryland, United States. History People and nature have long flourished beside the Middle Patuxent River. Over 12,000 years ago, Native Americans hunted deer and gathered acorns and other wild food in the woods and waters. People from Woodland Indian cultures settled nearby approximately 2,000 years ago, leaving traces of their lives in the earthenware pottery and stone tools they left behind.
