Hydronics () is the use of liquid water or gaseous water (steam) or a water solution (usually glycol with water) as a Heat transfer, heat-transfer medium in heating system, heating and cooling systems. The name differentiates such systems from Oil cooling, oil and refrigerant systems. An antifreeze is an additive which lowers the freezing point of a water-based liquid. An antifreeze mixture is used to achieve freezing-point depression for cold environments.
