Heydar Aliyev Park, Ganja
The Heydar Aliyev Park Complex () is the largest urban park in Ganja, Azerbaijan located on an area of 450 hectares. It includes within its boundaries fountains and decorated garden plots, an amphitheater, “Triumphal arch”, Youth Center, Heydar Aliyev Center, Museum of Modern Art, a waterfall and an artificial lake in addition to thousands of trees. The Park Complex was opened in 2014. History The park was primarily founded as a “Memorial park” in March 1979 in the result of planting trees for the first time in the field called “Quru Qobu” of Yeni Ganja residential area by a group of people from Ganja during a rally. Mirza Shafi Vazeh ( az, Mirzə Şəfi Vazeh; ) was an Azerbaijani poet and teacher. Under the pseudonym "Vazeh", which means "expressive, clear", he wrote in both Azerbaijani and Persian, developing the traditions of poetry in both languages. He compiled the first anthology of Azerbaijani poetry and a Tatar-Russian dictionary for the Tiflis gymnasium with Russian teacher Ivan Grigoriev. Mahsati ( fa, مهستی, Māhsatī) was a medieval Persian female poet who was reportedly one of the first poets to compose '' ruba'iyat'' (quatrains) in her native language. Name Various interpretations of her name have been suggested based on the consonants ''mhsty'', such as Mahisti, Mahsiti or Mihisti. The most accurate interpretation is likely Mahsati, seemingly a combination of ''māh'' (moon) and the early Indian loanword ''satī'' (virtuous lady).
