Halar
Halar (Haalaar) is a historical region of western India, located by the Gulf of Kutch coast on the northwestern area of Nawanagar, now Jamnagar, in Gujarat State, on Saurashtra peninsula, roughly corresponding to the present Jamnagar District, Devbhumi Dwarka district, Morbi District and Rajkot District. In 1901 it had an area of 19,365 km2 and a population of 764,992 inhabitants. History The name is derived from Jam Sri Halaji Jadeja who is supposed to be the 9th-generation grandfather of Jam Sri Rawalji Lakhaji Jadeja (who is the founder of the region and the first king to reign in the region); Halar was first established with this name by Jam Shri Rawalji Lakhaji, a Jadeja Rajput, in 1540. Jamnagar
Jamnagar () is a city and the headquarters of Jamnagar district in the Indian state of Gujarat. The city lies just to the south of the Gulf of Kutch, some west of the state capital, Gandhinagar. A prant is a historical district in India, and a native British Raj age term for a colonial district. The same name can thus have different meanings depending on the period. Jam Rawal
Jam Rawal Lakh (1480–1562), was a Jadeja Rajput ruler, who ruled Cutch State, Kutch State from 1524 to 1548 and later was founder-ruler of Nawanagar State from 1540 to 1562. Ruler of Kutch Jam Raval was son of Jam Lakhoji, the chief of Tera, Kutch, Tera branch of Kutch State, Kutch, which was younger to the elder branch of Lakhiarviro, whose ruler at that time was Jam Hamirji. It is believed that Jam Rawal attributed the murder of his father Jam Lakhoji to Hamirji, as he was killed within the territory of Lakhiarviro by Deda (clan) Tamiachi upon instigation of Hamirji. Kathiawar (), also known as Saurashtra, is a peninsula in the south-western Gujarat state in India, bordering the Arabian Sea and covering about . It is bounded by the Kutch district in the north, the Gulf of Kutch in the northwest, and by the Gulf of Khambhat in the east. In the northeast, it is connected to the rest of the state and borders on the low, fertile hinterland of Ahmedabad. Gohelwar was one of the four ''prant''s or traditional provinces of Saurashtra, the others being Jhalawar or Jhalavad, Halar, and Sorath. Jhalawar Prant
Kingdom of Jhalavad was a kingdom present in the Kathiawar region of Gujarat. The kingdom came to be known as the Dhrangadhra State after it became a princely state in the nineteenth century. The town of Dhrangadhra served as its capital. It was also known as Halvad-Dhrangadhra State. Halvad once had been the capital of this state. It was ruled by the Jhala clan of Rajputs. History The state was founded as Jhalawad/Zalawad in 1090 by Rajput ruler Harpadeva. Jamnagar District
Jamnagar District is a district of Gujarat in Western India. Its headquarters are located in the eponymous city of Jamnagar. It hosts the production facilities of large Indian companies such as Reliance. Among its attractions are several palaces, a Marine National Park and a Bird Sanctuary, known as Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary. Morvi State
Morvi State, also spelled as Morvee State or Morbi State, was a princely salute state in the historical Halar ''prant'' (district) of Kathiawar during the British Raj. The town of Morvi (Morbi), Gujarat, was its capital. The Kotwals of the royal palace of Morvi were Talpada Kolis of Radhavanaj village of Kheda district. The rulers of the princely state belonged to the Jadeja rajput dynasty. The state's last ruler signed the instrument of accession to the Dominion of India on 15 February 1948. Nawanagar State
Nawanagar was an Indian state and then a princely state in the historical Halar region, located on the southern shores of the Gulf of Kutch. It was ruled by the Jadeja Rajput dynasty and became a part of newly formed India. Its capital city was Nawanagar city, now known as Jamnagar. It had an area of and a population estimated at 336,779 in 1901. Its rulers, who use the title of " Jam Saheb" are of the same clan as the Rao of Kutch. They were entitled to a 13-gun salute. The state flag was a rectangular red flag with a white elephant, near and facing the hoist.
