Guðmundur Þór Kárason
Guðmundur Þór Kárason (born 14 June 1974) is an Icelandic puppet designer and puppeteer who is best known for his work on ''LazyTown'', in which he portrayed the character Ziggy. Early life Guðmundur Þór Kárason was born on 14 June 1974 in Reykjavík, Iceland, to director Kári H. Þórsson and visual artist Jenný E. Guðmundsdóttir. Career In 1994, he founded Wit Puppets in Iceland, working on commercials, theater and television programs. Guðmundur's involvement in Wit Puppets ranges from character development, construction and performing some of the puppets himself. In 1998, Kárason joined Lazy Shows, performing and consulting on the show as well as designing visuals for the company. Starting in 2004, Kárason was one of the founders of LTS Garðbær Studios (also known as LazyTown Entertainment), puppet performer and voice of Ziggy in ''LazyTown''. ''LazyTown'' () is an Icelandic children's educational musical television series created by aerobics champion Magnús Scheving. Originally produced in English, it has been broadcast in dozens of languages globally. Designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, the series was based on Scheving's stage play '' Áfram Latibær!'', itself adapted from a book that Scheving wrote in 1995. The series was commissioned by Nickelodeon in early 2003, following the production of two stage plays and a test pilot. Originally performed in English, it was later dubbed into thirty languages and broadcast in over 180 countries. LTS Garðbær Studios (also known as LazyTown Entertainment) is an Icelandic studio located in Garðabær, Iceland, which succeeded Lazy Shows (founded in 1992). The studio's productions included television series ''LazyTown''. The studio was founded in 2002 by Magnús Scheving and his partners Guðmundur Þór Kárason, Raymond P. Le Gué and Ragnheiður Melsteð. In 2011, Turner Broadcasting System acquired LTS and in 2014 Turner moved the studio to the US. From 2011 to 2024, the rights to the LazyTown brand were owned by Warner Bros. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 was the ninth edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and took place in Yerevan, Armenia at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex. It was the first time in history of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest that the contest was held in the previous year's winning country. Public Television Company of Armenia (ARMTV) was the main organizer and host broadcaster of the show, being provided financial aid from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) made of entrance fees from the participating broadcasters, while Swedish company HD Resources assisted with the technical side of the production.
